Sony just recently launched its mid-generation release of PS5 Pro and they are already starting to think ahead for the PlayStation 6. The company recently filed a patent that could potentially solve any latency issues or input lag experienced by many players. And that's with the help of AI.

The new patent utilizes AI to predict your next input based on what you've just registered by monitoring your movements using a camera. The AI will record your movements, predict your next button, and automatically input it to combat lag and any latency issues.

It means that players who are suffering from poor internet connections shouldn't have any more problems competing online. It sounds impressive, but it also poses a few risks. Imagine trying to 1v1 in a gulag in Call of Duty: Warzone but you end up reloading instead. Thanks AI.

The PlayStation 5 Pro already utilizes AI to aid in upscaling the resolution to gain more frames. It is similar to Nvidia's DLSS but built into the PlayStation console, which made the PS5 Pro the most powerful console yet. If the new AI input patent makes it into the PlayStation 6, then Sony may have just solved the world's problem of lag.

However, since it's a Sony patent, there's a huge chance that it will only be available for first-party titles. Nvidia, AMD, Microsoft, and other hardware companies might have to develop their own version of the AI-assisted input.

Whether it will come in the base PlayStation 6 or the PlayStation 6 Pro, this patent will soon be in every console in every household.

Patents like this oftentimes take time to get implemented but utilizing AI to solve many modern gaming problems seems to be the recent technology trend. Nvidia has started to amp up its frame generation technology in its new 5000 series cards. Only time will tell how these AI techs will elevate gaming further in the years to come.
