Phantump is a ghost/ grass-like Pokémon that somewhat looks like a tree stump. It is said that Phantumps are the spirits of children who died in the forest. It was first introduced to Pokémon GO during the Halloween event of 2021.
Known for its spooky sounds and ghostly looks, Phantump is quite a rare Pokémon, but it’s not impossible to catch, so don’t lose hope just yet. If you want to add Phantump to your Pokémon collection, we'll go over how to capture Phantump here.
After catching a Phantump, feel free to take a look at some of our other Pokemon Go guides like how to beat Giovanni or how to catch Mantine. We’ve also got info on an upcoming feature for the game called Pokemon Go Fusion.
How to Catch Phantump
There are several ways to catch Phantump, which include in the wild, as a hatch from a 5 km egg, and as a Tier 1 raid boss.
In the Wild
To find Phantump in the wild, you must have patience. Since it is a ghost and grass type Pokemon, there is a very high probability of finding it in places like forests and parks. There is also a high chance that you will find Phantump at night, since that is when ghost Pokémons come out.
Hatching Phantump From an Egg
You can get Phantump by hatching it from a 5 km egg. But keep in mind, there is a chance that these eggs hatch other Pokémons like Gligar, Archen, Tirtouga, etc. So, hatching Phantump from a 5 km egg is not guaranteed.
Catching Phantump in Raid Battles
Phantump is a Tier 1 raid boss, so you can also catch it by winning raid battles. Phantump is weak against flying, dark, fire, ghost, and ice types. It is a pretty easy fight to win on your own. Its CP values will be between
- 595–642 CP at Level 20, no weather boost
- 743–802 at Level 25, with a weather boost (fog or sunny).
After the battle, you’ll have a chance to catch Phantump.
How to Evolve Phantump
Once you have caught Phantump, you can also evolve it into Trevenant. There are two methods you can use to evolve Phantump into Trevenant.
- Using 200 Phantump Candy.
- Trading with a Friend
Note that you can only trade Phantump once with the trade method.
Can Phantump be Shiny?
Yes, you can catch your very own Shiny Phantump and evolve it into a Shiny Trevenant.
Although Phantump is an evasive Pokémon, catching it is surely worthwhile. Good luck with the hunt!
