Pokemon GO: How To Get Metal Coat | Evolve Scyther into Scizor, Onix into Steelix

Metal Coat in Pokemon Go

Metal Coat in Pokemon Go

Pokemon GO's evolution can be as simple as using the required amount of candy, but often rarer evolutions will require an evolution item. One such item, the Metal Coat, can evolve Onix into Steelix and Scyther into Scizor, so it's worth grabbing one.

These are consumables that can allow you to not only fill out your Pokedex but also unlock some impressively powerful creatures.

Once you've gotten your newly evolved Steel-type Pokemon, feel free to go through some of our other guides on the mobile game like how to catch Shadow Groudon or how to catch Unown.

Pokemon GO: How To Get Metal Coat

There are a few ways to get a Metal Coat, but none are guaranteed.

That means you'll want to complete as many of these tasks as possible - especially since you can only use it once.

Field Research

Arguably the easiest method of earning a Metal Coat, you'll want to spin Pokestops wherever possible.

Each offers a 1% chance of an evolution item, including a Metal Coat.

You'll up your chances by spinning Pokestops for seven days in a row, too!

Go Battle League Reward

Speaking of PvP, try competing in the Go Battle League for a chance to earn a Metal Coat as a mystery item.

How To Find More Special Evolution Items

Want to evolve more unique Pokemon? Some Pokemon in the game can't be caught unless you use a special evolution item.

You'll need a King's Rock for Politoed and Slowking, a Sun Stone for Bellossom and Sunflora, the Dragon Scale for Kingdra, a Metal Coat for Scizor and Steelix, Plus UpGrade for Porygon2.
