Girafarig and its evolution Farigiraf in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

We're almost ready to jump into the Paldea region with Generation 9 of the Pokemon games, so let's take a look at how to evolve Girafarig into Farigiraf in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Did you know that Girafarig is not only based on a giraffe, but is likely also based on a huge prehistoric deer-like animal called a Decennatherium. Its fossils were only found in Spain - coincidentally, where the Paldea region is set. This likely explains the seemingly random choice of giving Girafarig an evolution now, after all these years.

Make sure you pre-order of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet in time for release. We've also got a look at how to get our favourite starters Cyndaquil, Rowlet, and Scorbunny in the new generation, and here are the Rotom phone cases we can get!

How to evolve Girafarig in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet - What level does Girafarig evolve?

To get the brand new Farigiraf on your team, you'll need to evolve your Girafarig. All you need to do for this is to make sure it learns Twin Beam, and level it up to 32. From this level, evolutions will be possible.

We're currently not sure at what level Girafarig learns Twin Beam, or if a TM is required to learn the move. Either way, it should be fairly easy to get a hold of, to ensure you can get the new evolution.

What does Girafarig evolve into in Scarlet and Violet?

Another surprise announcement of Generation 9's new Pokémon was an evolution of Girafarig. Farigiraf is coming to the Paldea region, and has brought back the popular Generation 2 'Mon with it.

Both Girafarig and Farigiraf are Normal/Psychic dual-type and are known as the Long Neck Pokémon. Farigiraf's new Pokedex entry reads as follows:

The hardened head from the tail protects the head of the main body as Farigiraf whips its long neck around to headbutt enemies.

During the evolution, the smaller head on the tail combined with the actual head, to create a protective helmet. Farigiraf does actually have two brains, which boosts its psychic power.

The build of the Pokemon has good moves for both defence and offence, including a new ability: Cud Chew. This allows Pokémon to double the use of a berry, by eating it again at the end of the following turn when consumed during a turn.
