The Pokemon Scarlet and Violet ranked ladder has been live for about a month, with the second season of series one kicking off. The first ranked season has been filled with surprises and interesting teams. But we now have the announcement of the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet series two ranked season.

Series Two brings new changes to the format which are expected to shake things up quite a bit. It also gives an updated banned list for the format. We'll go through the dates and changes to the upcoming ranked ladder.

When is Pokemon Scarlet and Violet series two ranked?

The details around Pokemon Scarlet and Violet series two ranked were announced today, including the dates. Series two will be live from February 1, 2023 to March 31, 2023. This is in line with series one's run time of two months, and series two will also most likely have two seasons.

The battle rules for series two are not changing from series one for both singles and doubles, so here is the official rule set.

Singles:

  • Paldea Pokedex
  • Team of 3 to 6 Pokemon from level 1 to 100. All Pokemon set to level 50.
  • Your Time: 10 Minutes
  • Team Preview: 90 seconds
  • Turn Time: 60 seconds

Doubles:

  • Paldea Pokedex
  • Team of 4 to 6 Pokemon from level 1 to 100. All Pokemon set to level 50.
  • Your Time: 10 minutes
  • Team Preview: 90 Seconds
  • Turn Time: 60 seconds

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet series two ranked banned Pokemon

As we mentioned, series two will have an updated banned list of Pokemon. The focus is still on the Paldean regional dex, there are some changes to what is allowed on teams.

  • Charmander
  • Charmeleon
  • Charizard
  • Galaran Meowth
  • Wooper (non-paldean)
  • Quagsire
  • Scorbunny
  • Raboot
  • Cinderace
  • Perrserker
  • Wo-Chien
  • Chien-Pao
  • Ting-Lu
  • Chi-Yu
  • Koraidon
  • Miraidon

The banned list gets smaller this series, but many of the same Pokemon are here. Any Pokemon not in the Paldean Dex are banned, including the newest addition, Cinderace and its evolutionary line. Legendary Pokemon are still banned as well.

The big change here is that Paradox Pokemon will be allowed in this series. This means that many of the Pokemon that we've seen in series one may be replaced by stronger Paradox options, but we'll have to wait and see what teams get prepared ahead of the series.
