PS5 controller: DualSense features a removable faceplate

PlayStation YouTuber John Glasscock has uploaded a great new video exploring the PS5’s DualSense controller, and it’s got some nice surprises.

PS5 DualSense controller features detailed

The video is an up-close look at the DualSense box, the PS5 controller itself, and a handful of features you won’t find elsewhere.

It’s got a built-in microphone, for one — as well as attractive textured grips with a pattern containing the four PlayStation action buttons — X, square, and so on. It looks fantastic, and the mic’s even got a mute button built right into the center of the controller.

Of particular interest is the black portion of the faceplate, which reportedly comes off with ease. This has led to speculation that Sony might allow for various levels of customization down the road.

The thumbsticks, Glasscock says, are the same shape and fit as the PS4’s DualShock controller, so any aftermarket grips you might be using on PS4 should work with the next-gen PlayStation when you upgrade.

The PS5 launches on November 12, but you might be able to get your hands on some accessories, like controllers and headsets, already out in the wild.

Sony’s new console is shipping alongside new exclusive titles like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and a remake of the cult classic Demon’s Souls.
