Sony PlayStation has this afternoon released yet another surprise infodump of intel for their new PS5 console.
This time around, the new blog post and video gives users a complete teardown of the PS5 console, giving users an inside look at the new next-gen console.
"Today, we wanted to give you a sneak peek at the console’s interior, so you can take a look at all of the magic happening inside the PS5 that brings out the beautiful games you’ll experience this holiday season." Sony's latest blog post boasted to users.
The teardown video is lead by Yshuhiro Ootori, Sony's VP of Mechanical Design Department. So safe to say one of the top bods in explaining how this new machine has been built.
Here's a bit more info, courtesy of PlayStation's Blog:
"We began conceptualizing PS5 in 2015, and we’ve spent the past five years designing and developing the console."
"Our team values a well thought out, beautifully designed architecture. Inside the console is an internal structure looking neat and tidy, which means that there aren’t any unnecessary components and the design is efficient. As a result, we’re able to achieve our goal of creating a product with a high degree of perfection and quality.
"In this teardown video of the PS5 console, you will be able to see how we have thoughtfully integrated our technology into this console.
"We felt it was inevitable to make a generational leap in terms of performance in order to deliver a new, next-generation gaming experience. However, to do so, we had to balance every aspect of the system, from focusing on reducing the noise level to enhancing the cooling capacity, more than ever before.
"We’ve also highlighted the mechanism in the video below that we’ve incorporated into the PS5 console to make the operating sounds even quieter. After an extensive and complex trial and error process, we were pleased with the end result and I can not wait for our fans to get their hands on the PS5 console and “hear” it for themselves."

Things We Noted
While many had wondered about the console's vertical stand and how it would change the console's position when laying horizontally.
The stand can be unscrewed, and the resulting bolt can be stored inside. The stand can then be affixed to a certain point on the console's side to allow it to remain horizontal without actually touching the surface it lays on.
It's also worth noting that the disc drive has been insulated with two layers of insulators to reduce drive noise and vibration.
It's also consistently impressive to us how small each component is, even the much-touted custom SSD and its controller chip.
The console's overclocked CPU also means that the thermal conductor needed to be altered to increase its performance to allow for more efficient heat dissipation. In fact, there's even liquid metal-based cooling.
On the subject of cooling, Sony's video also notes that the shape and airflow of the heat sink offer the same performance benefits as using a vapour chamber, something that Microsoft is using in the Series X.
Finally, PS5's power unit has a wattage of 350W - 100W more than the PS4.
