Breakdown

  • A new leak reveals a long-awaited Red Dead Redemption PC port is coming
  • The information was found in a datamine of the Rockstar Launcher
  • This PC port comes 14 years after the game’s initial launch in 2010

A new PC port of the original Red Dead Redemption is allegedly on the way, just 14 years after its initial release on Xbox 360 and PS3.

We recently saw a basic remaster of the beloved open-world western on PS4 and Nintendo Switch, but PC players were curiously left out. However, according to a recent leak, Red Dead Redemption PC is finally on the way.

A datamine of the latest Rockstar Launcher by Twitter user Tez2 reveals evidence of an upcoming Red Dead Redemption PC port. The new update contains text revealing a PC version of the base game and its award-winning zombie expansion Undead Nightmare.

“Journey across the sprawling expanses of the American West and Mexico in Red Dead Redemption and its zombie-horror companion Undead Nightmare now playable on PC,” the leaked description reads.

Rockstar has been historically late with PC ports of all its modern games. GTA V infamously took two years to come to PC and Red Dead Redemption 2 took a year longer to launch on the platform. There’s also no GTA 6 release date for PC, meaning fans will have to wait even longer than console players to experience the new Vice City.

Rockstar Games does have an opportunity to release Red Dead’s PC version on the game’s official anniversary: May 18, 2024. While it won’t make up for the extremely long wait PC gamers have endured, it’s a nice sentiment.

With the arrival of Red Dead Redemption PC, we expect to see a whole host of mods for Rockstar’s beloved western. After the best GTA V mods and the best Red Dead Redemption 2 mods took the internet by storm, there’s no doubt fans will do the same for this classic adventure.
