Zenless Zone Zero Release Date
HoYoverse has confirmed that the Zenless Zone Zero release date is Thursday, July 4, 2024, at 10AM (UTC+8) on PS5, PC, and mobile. This is the first time the developer has done a simultaneous launch on all available platforms.
There has been plenty of speculation regarding the release date for HoYoverse's next gacha game, but now we have some concrete info to go on. Make sure you're prepared for launch day by reading up on the different Zenless Zone Zero characters, as the first banners also launch alongside the global release.
Zenless Zone Zero Platforms
Zenless Zone Zero will launch on Android, iOS, PlayStation 5, and Microsoft Windows via the Epic Games launcher or the dedicated ZZZ launcher. HoYoverse confirmed a console release at the Tokyo Game Show 2023, seen below, but no specifics were given at the time. It has since been confirmed that Zenless Zone Zero will launch on the PS5 at the same time as PC and mobile.
Zenless Zone Zero Gameplay
Zenless Zone Zero is very different from other HoYoverse titles. For one thing, it isn't an open-world game where players can explore different regions like Genshin Impact. Instead, they'll fight their way through The Hollows, a strange realm. Players investigate this realm by traveling on tiles. Some have no effect, and you can move on to the next one freely, but others will pull you into combat, as well as give you loot. Another tile will be part of a puzzle that players need to solve before they can move on.
However, The Hollows isn't the only setting to be explored in Zenless Zone Zero. Players can also investigate the New Eridu map, where a number of activities will be found.
Zenless Zone Zero Energy System Explained
As with most gacha games, there are limits on how much a player can progress over time. For Zenless Zone Zero, this limit is called the energy system. With this system, players are only able to do so much combat before they have to wait for their energy to regenerate. This is a tad frustrating but not all that surprising for a Gacha game.
Zenless Zone Zero Combat
In combat, players control 'Agents'. In typical HoYoverse fashion, gacha mechanics will let players recruit new Agents to perform better in combat. It's a system that is usually joined by grindy mechanics to encourage spending, so players should know that they're unlikely to get the agents or weapons they want in a hurry.
Zenless Zone Zero Story
Zenless Zone Zero is an upcoming game by HoYoverse, the developer of Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail. The game differentiates itself with a futuristic art style and action-oriented combat system that features cinematic moves and quick-time events.
Story-wise, players survive the post-apocalyptic world in a city known as New Eridu. The city is home to everything from arcades to restaurants, but outside of the city, much of the world was destroyed by 'Hollows'. Hollows are void-like bubbles that appear out of thin air to unleash monsters known as 'Ethereals'.
Naturally, these nightmares have been commercialized, with companies and factions fighting over the resources that Hollows can provide. Players control a Proxy, the in-universe monster fighters that defend survivors while they gather resources from Hollows.
Zenless Zone Zero Pre-Registration
HoYoverse fans around the world have been anticipating the release of Zenless Zone Zero, as pre-registration for the game has reached over 35 million players across all platforms. On launch day, players will receive a ton of freebies, including Agent Corin, Master Tapes, and Boopons, a currency used to obtain helpful android companions called Bangboos.
