July 12, 2024: Developer HoYoverse has revealed various new characters that will receive banners in the future.

Gacha fans will already be familiar with ZZZ’s banners, though to newcomers to the genre, it’s an incredibly confusing system. Every two weeks, the Zenless Zone Zero banners offer unique new characters for you to try your luck at acquiring using your hard-earned currencies. As such, knowing the current and next ZZZ banner is crucial to building out your roster of characters.

This Zenless Zone Zero banner guide will go over the characters and items you can get your hands on right now, as well as the pity system and the standard banner. If getting all of the Zenless Zone Zero characters is important to you, especially those at the top of our ZZZ tier list to breeze through the endgame activities, then you’re in the right place.

Zenless Zone Zero Current Banner

The current Zenless Zone Zero banner is Ellen's Mellow Waveride, which runs from Thursday, July 4, 2024, until Wednesday, July 24, 2024, and features the following characters:

  • Ellen (S-Rank, Ice, Attack)
  • Soukaku (A-Rank, Ice, Support)
  • Anton (A-Rank, Electric, Attack)

Following the pattern HoYoverse has established with Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail, Zenless Zone Zero’s first banner features the first closed beta banner that players could access - Mellow Waveride, Ellen’s banner. ZZZ continues the trend of these beta banners carrying over directly into the release of the full game.

Ellen is an S-Rank (five-star) Ice damage dealer who is capable of dishing out heavy freeze attacks. At the launch of the game, Ellen is the best main DPS character we can unlock, making the first banner one to keep your eyes on. Remember though, main DPS units are also often the first to get powercrept, meaning Ellen might not be so popular after the next couple of banners. This is particularly true if the upcoming Miyabi is still an Ice Attack unit as she was during closed beta tests.

Zenless Zone Zero also has a W-Engine banner known as Dissonant Sonata, which gives you access to new weapons. The current W-Engine weapon banner features Deep Sea Visitor, Ellen’s signature W-Engine. Take a look at our Zenless Zone Zero W-Engine guide to learn more.

The current W-Engine weapon banner includes:

  • Deep Sea Visitor (S-Rank, Attack)
  • Bashful Demon (A-Rank, Support)
  • Drill Rig - Red Axis (A-Rank, Attack)

Zenless Zone Zero Next Banner

The next Zenless Zone Zero banner, 1.0 phase two, begins on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, and is Unswerving Bullet, which features:

  • Zhu Yuan (S-Rank, Ether)
  • Nicole (A-Rank, Ether)
  • Ben (A-Rank, Fire)

Zhu Yuan will headline 1.0 phase two in her Unswerving Bullet banner. As another S-Rank DPS character, Zhu Yuan will have strong competition, despite her being an Ether character. Packing a variety of firearms from rocket launchers to dual pistols, it’s hard to say no when you see Zhu Yuan in action. This banner, especially considering the popular A-Rank characters featured, will be a popular choice. However, Zhu Yuan will get more powerful when the next banners arrive, as these are slated to include additional New Eridu Public Security characters that will give her more team variety.

The next Dissonant Sonata will feature a rate-up of Zhu Yuan's signature W-Engine, Riot Suppressor Mark VI. As you can expect, this is Zhu Yuan's best-in-slot W-Engine, so it's worth grabbing if you have Polychrome to spare.

The next W-Engine banner includes:

  • Riot Suppressor Mark VI (S-Rank, Attack)
  • The Vault (A-Rank, Support)
  • Big Cylinder (A-Rank, Defense)

Beyond Ellen and Zhu Yuan during Version 1.0, there are several upcoming ZZZ characters that will feature over the next few major updates - including both S-Rank and A-Rank Agents. The further away the update, however, the harder it comes to accurately pinpoint the banner characters and their order. Plus, remember that HoYoverse can always change plans, whether that's changing the banner characters, tweaking their kit, or delaying updates.

Nevertheless, Qingyi, Jane Doe, Seth Lowell, Harumasa, Yanagi, and Miyabi are all in line to get a banner in the future.

Zenless Zone Zero Standard Banner

The Standard Banner in Zenless Zone Zero is called the Stable Channel, where a handful of characters and W-Engines are permanently available - unlike limited-time event banners.

When you’re just starting out, there is also a discounted beginner banner which reduces the cost of ten pulls down to eight and features the same set of items.

Check out our guide on how to get Polychromes in Zenless Zone Zero to stock up on this valuable resource, as well as how to get free pulls on the standard banner.

S-Rank Selector

The Standard Banner has an S-Rank selector. Like the five-star selector in Honkai Star Rail, in ZZZ, after 300 pulls, you can choose the S-Rank character you would like from the Standard S-Rank characters. The best character to choose is largely dependent on the other characters you own, though Lycaon, Rina, and Grace are generally the strongest characters here, and should stay in the meta for longer than DPS units like Nekomata and Soldier 11.

Standard Banner Characters:

  • Grace (S-Rank)

Zenless Zone Zero Bangboo Banner

The only way to get Bangboo is to pull on the exclusive Bangboo banner, known as 'An Outstanding Partner'. This Channel is purely free-to-play, meaning you can't purchase pulls here. Instead, you need a unique currency called Boopons, primarily earned through endgame activities and events.

Like the standard banner, the Bangboo banner is permanently available, and it even features an S-Rank selector. This means you can pick which S-Rank Bangboo you would like to receive. Any S-Rank you receive is guaranteed to be the one you selected.

You can obtain the following Bangboo on this channel:

  • Safety (S-Rank)
  • Butler (S-Rank)
  • Amillion (S-Rank)
  • Rocketboo (S-Rank)
  • Plugboo (S-Rank)
  • Resonaboo (S-Rank)
  • Sharkboo (S-Rank)
  • Bangvolver (S-Rank)
  • Penguinboo (A-Rank)
  • Exploreboo (A-Rank)
  • Paperboo (A-Rank)
  • Sumoboo (A-Rank)
  • Bagboo (A-Rank)
  • Cryboo (A-Rank)
  • Avocaboo (A-Rank)
  • Boollseye (A-Rank)
  • Electroboo (A-Rank)
  • Magnetiboo (A-Rank)
  • Devilboo (A-Rank)

However, any B-Rank drops will be W-Engines. This means that you are guaranteed one A-Rank Bangboo every 10 pulls, an S-Rank at 80 pulls, and then likely W-Engines on most other pulls.

  • [Identity] Base (B-Rank)
  • [Identity] Inflection (B-Rank)
  • [Lunar] Decrescent (B-Rank)
  • [Lunar] Noviluna (B-Rank)
  • [Lunar] Pleniluna (B-Rank)
  • [Magnetic Storm] Alpha (B-Rank)
  • [Magnetic Storm] Bravo (B-Rank)
  • [Magnetic Storm] Charlie (B-Rank)
  • [Reverb] Mark I (B-Rank)
  • [Reverb] Mark II (B-Rank)
  • [Reverb] Mark III (B-Rank)
  • [Vortex] Arrow (B-Rank)
  • [Vortex] Hatchet (B-Rank)
  • [Vortex] Revolver (B-Rank)
