The Lord of the Rings TV Show Trailer Set to Premiere During the Super Bowl
This new trailer will showcase actual footage from the show, but don't expect too much, as it's confirmed to only be a "teaser".
Amazon previously released the opening credits for the show, which revealed the official title. Showrunners, JD Payne and Patrick McKay, also confirmed this series will be set during Middle-Earth’s second age - thousands of years before Peter Jackson’s movies.
But it won't be too disconnected to the movies, as several characters are expected to appear:
The forging of the rings, the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron, the epic tale of Númenor, and the Last Alliance of Elves and Men. Until now, audiences have only seen on-screen the story of the One Ring – but before there was one, there were many… and we’re excited to share the epic story of them all.
Amazon’s purchase of Tolkien’s property made airways in 2017, with the rights alone toppling $250 million. Season 1 of the show reportedly carries a price tag of $465 million, making it the most expensive season of any TV show produced.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is coming to Amazon Prime on September 2nd.
