Part one

After mutiny and plunder, now come to rest, on Crook’s Hollow to hide my chest.
The Endless Lizard painting where the light is murky, dig 6 paces South-by-South East a treasure’s lurking.

The first half of the riddle is pretty straightforward as it just means to head to Crook’s Hollow. The island can be found in quadrant Q19 of the map. Once you get to Crook’s Hollow, you’ll need to search for the Endless Lizard painting.

This is a cave painting of two lizards that are trying to bite each other’s tails. You can find this painting inside a cave near the island’s western shore. You’ll know you’re in the right cave when you pass by a skeleton sitting next to an extinguished campfire.

When you get to the Endless Lizard painting, whip out your compass and position yourself until the arrow is between south and southeast. Go ahead and take six steps in that direction and you should find the location of the clue.

If you’re having trouble finding the right spot, just head back to the painting and try again.

Part two

The cavern campfire, where there is little light
Seven paces East-by-South East dig gold ye might.

The first half of this clue will take you back to the extinguished campfire beside the skeleton. From there, position your compass so that it is pointing between east and southeast then take seven steps.

Start digging after taking seven paces and you’ll find the third clue.

Part three

At the duelling crabs on the South West beach, ye are almost there,
Nine paces North East, dig treasure bare.

The duelling crabs mentioned in this clue refers to another painting on the island. It is found on the southwest beach.

Once you find the painting, take out your compass yet again and take nine steps northeast for the fourth and final clue.

Part four

Seek the beetle at the crossing of the ways, where there is no sky,
It lies in wait for sweet music’s cry.

The “crossing of the ways” in this clue refers to the centre of Crook’s Hollow. You can get there by going through the island’s cave system. You’ll know you’ve found the right place when you get to a room with a giant rock in the centre.

On this rock, you’ll find a painting of a beetle. When you get here, there’s no need for a compass or a shovel. The clue states that “it lies in wait for sweet music’s cry” so all you need to do is play an instrument and you’ll have your treasure.
