The Grand Market on Neely Street in the Silent Hill 2 Remake is an optional area you can access by solving a keypad puzzle. Entering the market doesn't affect the main story but allows you to gather useful supplies like health drinks and handgun ammunition.
Looting the market can make a noticeable difference if you’re after resources or aiming for a more prepared playthrough. Here’s how to unlock the keypad.
How To Unlock the Grand Market Keypad on Neely Street
To unlock the Grand Market keypad on Neely Street in Silent Hill 2 Remake, you’ll need to explore the nearby area for clues.
The Grand Market is located at the corner of Katz Street and Neely Street, but the entrance is blocked. The keypad is on the south side of the building, tucked behind an open wire gate.
As you approach the keypad, you won’t find the exact code straight away.
Instead, head east down Sanders Street, where you’ll spot a semi-truck parked with a body lying near it. Monsters will strike when you get close to the truck and the body with the note, so it’s wise to clear the area before attempting the code to avoid interruptions.
Next to the corpse, you’ll find a note (aka the Code Note). The note mentions that the person cycled through the numbers from 0000 to 4439 but had to abandon their attempt when forced to flee.
They also mentioned feeling like they were "so close" to solving the code before they had to stop. The key detail here is that the correct code falls just after 4-4-3-9
.
The solution is to try numbers right after that range, and the exact code you need is 4-4-4-4.
Once you enter the code, the door unlocks and gives you access to the market. Inside, you’ll find a stash of helpful items:
- Health Drinks - Located on the shelf, in the cabinet, and on the end shelf.
- Handgun Ammo - Four rounds are on the counter, and two packs, each on the shelf and in the wire basket, are available.
It's as simple as it can be, like you're following in the footsteps of someone who nearly tried every combination but missed the right one.
Certain difficulty levels may slightly alter the puzzle's solution, but for most standard runs, 4-4-4-4
is the correct code to enter.
