How To Sneak Out in the Sims 4 High School Years
Sneaking out is a time-honoured tradition among teenagers, and now Sims are no different. Some strict and worried parents won't let their young ones go out, but that won't stop them with the newly added window and trellis items.
Sims will sometimes get a hangout request from a friend, offering them to join over at their house or at a lot. If you accept, you'll get a notification that tells you to find a way to get there. Your Sim can either ask permission to go, or sneak out.
How to Sneak Out
Sneaking out of the house requires both the new window item and the trellis, so the Sim can climb down on. Having one and not both of these has been causing issues: especially if they aren't in the right place, so it can be a little tricky to get right.
The window needs to be unobstructed on both sides to be usable. Clicking the ground outside (or the window) will bring up the usual menu, but should now feature the 'Go to Hang Out with Friends' option as well as Go Here. Click that, and your Sim will be off!
How to Ask for Permission
Sims can also ask parents or caregivers for permission to leave. In order for this to work, you'll need to make sure the older Sim is adopted as a caregiver. You can do this by clicking on them and selecting the option. It is up to them as to whether they will say yes or no to your Sim going out.
There are a couple of drawbacks to sneaking out, however. Some players have had issues where a Sim will climb out of the window, then back in, and try to sneak out of the front door and get caught.
Sims cannot sneak out after curfew, no matter the situation. Any Sim that does manage to sneak out will just disappear - the event they go to is a rabbit hole: a place you won't be able to see for yourself. Your sims will reappear after a few hours, though, so it's not the end of the world.
