Modders have put a lot of effort into making sure Skyrim has continually evolved and expanded in the eleven years since it was first released into the world.
Some of these efforts have focused on making the game more immersive, by adding things like dynamically-learning NPCs and destination weddings. However, many have been less serious, instead endeavouring to turn the game into some kind of surrealist nightmare by turning giants into Mr T or bears into Winnie the Pooh.
Now, one modder has provided a couple more zany additions to the latter list, having decided to mess with Skyrim’s scaling in two equally disturbing ways.
“Well, at least dragons might have a harder time hitting me with their fire breath now.”
The first of the mods in question is called ‘Cursed Skyrim - 10x Bigger Skyrim’, and is the work of modder SpongebobHentaiSimulator. Their previous work contains a number of other truly cursed mods, including some which infect the game with lethal doses of Nazeem and turn its graphics down to unbelievably low levels.
This time, they’ve decided to leave everything looking as it does in the vanilla game and achieve their surreal goals by making things bigger and smaller, with this first mod making the game’s NPCs and the player character ten times smaller than they should be.
That might not be a problem if the worldspace had also been scaled down along with them, but, unfortunately, it hasn’t been, leaving everyone looking up at mountain-sized furniture and facing a serious hike just to get from one side of a room to the other.
If that sounds like a rather unpleasant way to play Bethesda’s RPG, don’t fret, as SpongebobHentaiSimulator has also provided an alternative mod that’ll make the game feel just as weird without having you run the risk of being crushed by a sweetroll falling off someone’s table.
Inspired by a Team Fortress 2 meme, this mod leaves most things in the game the same size, aside from the heads of both the Dragonborn and all of Skyrim’s NPCs, which it makes much smaller than they should be.
So, if you’ve ever wanted to live in a world where ‘pea-brained’ is the most scathing and accurate insult you could ever level at someone, that one might be more your style.
