When they’re not getting caught in a Nazeem-based hellscape, accidentally becoming the ruler of Solitude and massacring an entire village using only the power of dabbing, Skyrim’s Dragonborn can often be found visiting some pretty interesting places.
From the Akaviri stronghold of Sky Haven Temple to otherworldly realms like Sovngarde and the Soul Cairn, to locations painstakingly crafted by modders like the Ever-Bog, the list is near endless.
Unfortunately for those that are behind on their Tamrielic sightseeing tour, a new mod looks to have added another can’t-miss stop to everyone’s travel plans.
Are you excited to finally visit a mysterious city from Elder Scrolls lore?
The mod in question is called ‘The city of Bromjunaar’ and is the first-ever work of modder Sdougiss, who claims to have learned how to mod over the course of two years in order to rectify what they perceive to be a lack of existing mods that edit the area surrounding Labyrinthian.
In order to accomplish this, they’ve decided to transform the entire ruin into a modernised version of its glorious past state as the city of Bromjunaar which, according to Elder Scrolls lore, was the capital of Skyrim during the era of the dragon cult, which is why it serves as the location of the vanilla game’s dragon priest mask statue.
Thankfully, the mod doesn’t bring back any dragons or dragon priests to inhabit the city, instead turning it into a massive settlement of mages that fits with Labyrinthian’s role in the College of Winterhold quest line.
For those wondering whether adding the city to your game will impede your ability to complete this quest line, the answer, unfortunately, looks to be yes, with Sdougiss having added a trapdoor to the city that’ll allow you to access the old Labyrinthian, but still recommending that you become Arch-mage before downloading.
They’re also working on a quest to add to the mod that'll seemingly take place after the College quest line ends and provide you with a chance to become a “true Arch-mage”, acknowledged as the ruler of Bromjunaar.
Until that’s ready, you’ll just have to content yourself by having a look around the city, which contains a number of houses, an inn and a market, plus a lot of interesting NPCs.
So, pack your most impressive staff, head on over to Bromjunaar, and make sure to follow us for more updates on The Elder Scrolls 6 and the wacky world of Skyrim modding.
