Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man 2 may have been a PlayStation exclusive for a while, but just like with The Last of Us and Horizon, the game has arrived for PC.
With its AAA status, though, some fans are worried that their rigs may not be compatible with playing Spider-Man 2. The good news is that developer Nixxes has revealed a list of recommended specs to ensure that Peter Parker and Miles Morales's latest adventure plays smoothly on everyone’s PC.
PC Specs for Spider-Man 2
While Insomniac did develop the game, Nixxes was tasked to port it over to PC. Here are the recommended specs to play Spider-Man 2 on PC:
While the game has been adjusted so it can play on some high-performing PCs, the developers at Nixxes have also confirmed that they have downscaled the game so that players with old-gen PCs can play it. The official PlayStation blog post reads:
“… at Nixxes we also take pride in making PC games scale down to prior generation hardware. To cater to this, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PC offers a wide range of graphics settings and presets, including options without ray-tracing, like dynamic resolution scaling.”
What’s New for Spider-Man 2 on PC?
Though the PlayStation 5 is already a pretty advanced rig on its own, the PC version of Spider-Man 2 has its own special features. These are the ones noted by the official trailer:
- Upscaling and Frame Generation
- Ultra Widescreen Support
- Ray-Traced Shadows and Ambient Occlusion
- Improved Ray-Traced Reflections
- DualSense Support
While the game is playable with the keyboard, the DualSense support means that players can purchase a DualSense controller and connect it to their PC instead of having an actual PlayStation 5.
PSN Account Optional
Though it had been required for players to have a PlayStation Account to be able to play former exclusives like God of War Ragnarok or Horizon Zero Dawn on PC, it’s also been said that Spider-Man 2 will no longer be requiring players to have a PSN account to play the game.
However, having a PSN account is said to unlock some in-game suits early, so there’s still a benefit to having one.
Future DLC?
Though the first Spider-Man game did some with DLC, nothing has been revealed about anything coming for Spider-Man 2. Fans don’t know what Insomniac has cooking under their hood, but maybe it’s possible that they would rather focus all the work on their upcoming Wolverine game for now, which has yet to get an update ever since it was announced way back in 2021.
Maybe there could be room for a Spider-Man 2 DLC down the line, but as it looks, there seems to be no plans to expand this world of Miles and Peter. Maybe it has something to do with the middling reviews, but there may be plans for other games that have yet to be announced—like a rumored Venom spinoff game.
Spider-Man 2 is now available for PC and PS5.
