Everyone knew Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was going to be a success, as its predecessors were considered major hits on both PS4 and PS5. However, it is shocking to see that the superhero sequel has already surpassed 5 million sales in less than two weeks.
Sony released sales data for the company’s various games, showing that the superhero sequel has sold 5 million copies in 11 days. While most fans knew that this was going to be a system seller, even we’re shocked at the rate this game is selling.
Unsurprisingly, the PS5 is also doing well, selling 46.6 million copies as of September 30th. It seems that most people are now able to get their hands on the system, now that they can be purchased in most stores. Most are just grateful that scalpers aren’t the only sources for these machines anymore.
Granted, the PS5 didn’t sell well because of Spider-Man 2, though we’re sure that it being an exclusive didn’t hurt either. The open-world superhero title makes the most out of this fairly powerful console, making it one of the best-looking titles released this year.
It’s not just sales, as fans and critics alike are in love with this PS5 exclusive. From all of the costumes that can be unlocked, including the fan-favorite one from TASM2, to the improved traversal mechanics, there’s just too much to enjoy here. Naturally, all of this love has led to this being Insomniac Games’ highest-rated title thus far.
Now that Spider-Man 2 is a certified success, fans are just waiting on possible DLC to continue the adventures of Peter and Miles. Insomniac Games has also left hints about Daredevil, leading many to believe that he will show up in the DLC at some point.
