It's extremely easy to get hold of the Big Chest recipe in Stardew Valley. Robin has the recipe and it's on sale for 5,000 Gold which means you may need to increase your funds before purchasing the recipe allowing you to increase storage capacity.
How to craft Big Chest in Stardew Valley
To craft a Big Chest once you've purchased the recipe from Robin, you'll need 120 Wood and two Copper Bars. This particular chest has double the capacity of a standard chest and can be placed on top of any other Chests you may have to upgrade it.
Wood is extremely easy to harvest. Chop down trees or branches to gain enough for the recipe while waiting for the Copper Bars to smelt. Place five Copper Ore and one Coal in a Furnace. Each bar takes 30 minutes of in-game time which equates to around 22 seconds of real-time.
