For those who’ve invested thousands of hours into the likes of Skyrim and Fallout 4, the release of Starfield, which is now pencilled in for September 6, can’t come soon enough.

Regardless of what you want to see from the next showcase of Bethesda's venture into space or how many interstellar mods you plan to install once it arrives, the idea of being able to delve into a freshly curated game has RPG lovers of all stripes intrigued.

Currently, a few of the fans who’ve spent the last few months speculating and worrying about the seemingly sex-free game are locked in a debate concerning which of it and the equally highly-anticipated GTA 6 will end up being classed as the more ambitious creation.

Which of these two massively anticipated games, Starfield or GTA 6, are you most excited for?

Their AAA blockbuster-based arguments form the subject of a recent thread on the Starfield subreddit, which began with a post from user bogeyj, who kicked things off by asking: “Which do you think will be the more ambitious open-world game: Starfield or GTA 6?”

Thankfully, they also offered some clarification on the criteria they had in mind when pondering this astronomical quandary, saying: “Ambitious not in terms of scale, because Starfield wins that hands down, but in terms of what each developer is trying to do with their respective games and what makes sense for the world(s) they are trying to create.”

A number of their fellow would-be astronauts were quick to offer opinions, with user mcshaggin declaring: “Starfield. For me replayability (is) a major factor in how ambitious a game appears (and) while I like the GTA games they just don't have the replayability of Bethesda RPGs."

On the other hand, user Dunemer argued: “I don't like GTA 5, probably won't like GTA 6 and in comparison I'm hyped for Starfield, but I'd be very surprised if Starfield wins that race. Not only is Red Dead Redemption 2 one of the most faithfully immersive games (ever made), almost to a painful degree to some, but GTA 6 seems to be the basket Rockstar is putting all its eggs into right now.”

Meanwhile, user CardboardChampion chose to straddle the middle ground, saying: “Here's the thing fans of one or the other won't tell you - both have their strengths in different situations.”

Others proposed that, as the next entry in a well-established series, rather than a fresh IP, The Elder Scrolls 6 might serve as a more fruitful Bethesda game to compare to Rockstar’s next crime-filled adventure.
