When they’re not decorating their settlements, trying on quirky glasses or laughing at a joke told by a robotic clown, Fallout 4’s Sole Survivor can often be found looking for fresh quests to delve into.

After all, when you’re hooked on the thrill of blasting, zapping, or bashing your way through mutated creatures, bloodthirsty raiders, or imposing Brotherhood of Steel gunships to accomplish goals, going back to a normal life isn’t always easy.

If your vault dweller is getting a bit restless and likes the idea of investigating mysteries, a new mod might be worth adding to your load order.

Fancy heading on some new detective-style adventures in Fallout 4?

The mod in question is called ‘CSEP Presents Loaded Bases - Quest Mod’ and is the work of a group of modders going by the name ‘The Commonwealth Story Expansion Project’ and led by Phineas Kube.

Some of their previous works have sent the Sole Survivor to investigate a kinda spooky dungeon and given them some extra Brotherhood of Steel-inspired missions to undertake.

This time, they’ve decided to create a string of eight brand new and fully voiced quests, which will see you join up with Diamond City security and investigate a series of leads linked to The Commonwealth's chem trade, eventually uncovering a hidden synth-based conspiracy.

In line with the mod’s apparent buddy cop and film noir inspirations, you’ll have a new companion at your side to serve as a partner and help you probe post-apocalyptic Boston’s dark underbelly, though you can also bring along one or two of your existing followers to listen to your Benoit Blanc-style monologues.

That said, the mod uses Reg2k and Neanka’s ‘Extended Dialogue Interface’ to integrate its 500-plus lines of fresh dialogue, meaning there’ll be plenty of interjections and conversations to interrupt your theorising.

Also included are a range of fresh outfits, music, and a unique weapon, which should satisfy those who’re more interested in gathering cool loot than getting deeply invested in the mod’s story.

In addition, Loaded Bases is seemingly compatible with MunkySpunk’s massively popular ‘The Fens Sheriff's Department - Bleachers 2’ thanks to a handy patch Phineas Kube has developed to resolve conflicts between the two.
