Breakdown

  • It took the Stellar Blade devs a whole year to make Eve's hair work
  • The game's director admits that development would have been shorter if they changed her hair
  • SHIFT UP kept her long hair and Eve's look is now iconic

Stellar Blade is an action RPG many are looking forward to, whether it’s for the fast-paced action or the lead character’s sex appeal. Discussion about the game tends to lean toward lead character Eve and her assets, but the developers also worked hard on something fans haven’t paid attention to: her long hair.

Fans already knew that the game’s developers worked hard on her body, but it turns out her hair was one of the most difficult parts of production. In an interview with Famitsu (via Kreart), game director and SHIFT UP CEO Kim Hyung Tae said that it took them a whole year to make Eve’s long hair work properly.

What makes this fact crazier is the fact that the Stellar Blade dev said that development would have taken less time if they didn’t give her long hair. However, Hyung Tae wouldn’t let up on the idea and they eventually made it work, even if it took the devs a whole year to make it work.

Eve’s long hair might not mean much gameplay-wise but it’s a huge part of her look and is one reason why fans are already obsessed with the game. Obviously, some of that obsession comes with the fanservice and her various outfits in the action RPG, but her look has quickly become iconic.

Now that we’ll be getting our hands on the Stellar Blade demo soon, fans will be able to see if the gameplay is to their liking. There is some worry amongst fans that the game is relying on its sex appeal to sell, and they aren’t wrong, but everything we’ve seen looks pretty good. All we can do is hope that the fanservice-filled game lives up to the hype and becomes a worthy PS5 exclusive.

Stellar Blade will be coming out on April 26, exclusively for Sony’s PlayStation 5. There’s a lot of hope that the game will also be coming out on PC, but we’ll have to wait and see.
