The long wait for PC players finally ended at The Game Awards 2024 when Naughty Dog confirmed that The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is coming to PC this April.
After the success of the game on PS5, fans have been eager for Ellie’s next chapter to arrive on the PC version, and now it’s finally happening.
As the game release dates draw nearer, what can players look forward to? Here’s everything you need to know.
Plot and Gameplay
While not to spoil you, the game is set five years after the first game's events, where we find Ellie and Joel trying to rebuild their lives in Jackson, Wyoming. However, tragedy occurs when Joel gets killed and Ellie embarks on a mission of vengeance.
In The Last of Us Part 2, one of the biggest changes from the first game is its enhanced AI. Enemies are more intelligent, communicate more, and even respond to the deaths of their allies.
Additionally, exploration is more important. Even though it isn't open-world, its levels are larger and more detailed than before. From scavenging for resources to uncovering hidden notes and piecing them together, it is all core aspects of the game.
The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered PC: System Requirements
As of now, Naughty Dogs has not revealed official system requirements. However, you should also know that The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is not a complete remake but a remastered version.
You take an example from the games that have been rebuilt from the ground up, such as Resident Evil 2 Remake, which was more of a technical and visual upgrade of the original PS4 release. But the case is different here.
That means while it will look and run better, it likely won’t introduce massive hardware demands beyond what we’ve already seen with Part 1 on PC. Not to mention, it’s still using the same game engine, which means performance should be similar to Part 1, more or less.
But if things like ray tracing with higher-resolution textures are introduced, then it could easily push the hardware demands slightly higher, but it shouldn’t be a dramatic leap.
In case you aren't aware of The Last of Us Part 1 system requirements. Here is the minimum system demand:
- OS: Windows 10 (64-bit)
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 1500X, Intel Core i7-4770K
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD Radeon RX 470
- Storage: 100 GB SSD
The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered PC: Pre-purchase Rewards
Players who pre-purchase the game can grab some exclusive early-game bonuses. You will receive:
- Ammo Capacity Upgrade: This lets you carry more ammunition right from the start
- Crafting Training Manual: It lets you unlock new crafting recipes early
Although the gameplay won't be significantly altered by these items, they will undoubtedly make your early hours more comfortable.
By the way, pre-purchase buyers are not the only ones who can get these things. Naturally, pre-buyers will have an advantage, but you can still find them through regular gameplay.
For the time being, that is all you need to know. We will keep you updated here on Gfinity once more information surfaces.
