The first Inside Xbox stream for the Xbox Series X gave fans a first glimpse of new titles that Microsoft’s third-party developers have been working on ahead of the release of the new console later in 2020.
Among the list of exciting new releases was psychological horror game, The Medium, developed by Bloober Team.
Find out everything you need to know about the new game in this handy article!
What is The Medium?
The Medium is a psychological horror game centred around the idea of how perspective changes perception, players will be playing as Marianne, a psychic medium who is constantly hounded by visions from the spirit world.
Haunted by a vision of a child's murder, you travel to an abandoned hotel resort, which years ago became the stage of an unthinkable tragedy.
As a medium, players will have the ability to interact with both real and spirit worlds, gaining a different perspective and perception of the events that take place inside the game.
“When you change your point of view, you discover that things are more complicated and nuanced than you initially thought” stated Piotr Babieno, CEO of Bloober Team.
In order to create a stark contrast between the two worlds, Team Bloober has bought in composer Akira Yamaoka to deliver the soundtracks for both worlds.
Responsible for the Silent Hill soundtracks, the soundtrack of The Medium has the potential to give the game an incredibly immersive atmosphere for players.
The project has a budget of roughly €7 million.
Release Date & Platforms
The game has now been delayed until January 28, 2021 per a report to VGC, they have also noted the following:
“It wasn’t an easy decision to make, but one made due to the Covid-19 situation in Poland, as well as the current schedule of other games on the market.”
Should I Be Excited?
YES! With the Xbox Series X packing a hefty punch when it comes to its specifications, confirmed ray tracing for this game and a 4K resolution combined with an incredible soundtrack and storyline is likely to make The Medium one of the best horror games releasing this year.
