Are you in for some Minecraft extreme sports? Here's an idea: leave your Minecraft server open for your friends, go camping for a few days, and cross your fingers as you check if your Minecraft world isn't decimated by outsiders by the time you're back.
If you end up with a burned village, like how most of these moments play out, then that's the end of your Minecraft extreme sports journey.
However, one particular Minecraft fan experienced the opposite and received a wholesome reminder about leaving their Minecraft servers open.
Posted on Reddit by user u/toxpi, they shared that they left their Minecraft server open for friends and went away for a few days, but they ended up receiving several signs with reminders on how the outsiders found their server online.
These signs say that user u/toxpi's IP address was found online, and asked them to add the outsiders on Discord to further help them with the issue. The reminders ended with a note saying "sick world though!", possibly indicating that there were no attempts made to plunder user u/toxpi's Minecraft world.
Many Minecraft fans from the subreddit reminded everyone to whitelist their servers when leaving these open for friends to access.

Having no whitelist makes your server vulnerable to unauthorized access, and since many people online often have malicious intent, players can end up with burned villages after leaving their servers open.
Fortunately, not everyone experiences the harsh ransacking of their Minecraft world.
One Redditor shared that they once left their server open when suddenly a stranger bot entered, explained how whitelisting works, and then left. It was like Mary Poppins popping in to remind you about whitelisting before flying off again as if a certain civilization needed her again - "I must go, my people need me" kind of thing.
Whenever you play Minecraft with your friends, parents, or kids, be sure to always secure your servers if you want to avoid running into menacing or uncannily wholesome bots or reminders from strangers.
