Tales of Luminaria Tier List - Best Characters and How to Reroll

May 17, 2022: With the announcement that Tales of Luminaria will be shutting down in July, the tier list is complete.

Out now around the world, it turns out there is no real Tales of Luminaria tier list worth pursuing. Though the right character will get you through specific missions more easily than another, your success in this game relies more on gear, awareness, and character level.

But that's not going to stop us from piecing together some helpful information. We've written up a detailed and delightfully simple Tales of Luminaria reroll method to help those asking how to perform one. Getting off on the right foot can make all the difference this early on, after all.

We're going to guess that you're probably a JRPG fan, so why not double up? We have tiers lists for the biggest anime mobile games around, like Figure Fantasy, Seven Knights 2, World Flipper, and the cutesy military game Blue Archive. It's a packed year for mobile RPGs, and we've got an extensive gacha game list to help you find your next.

Tales of Luminaria Tier List - Who Is the Best Character?

Tier
Characater
S
A character's worth is based more on their equipment. As such, they'll all equal.

With 21 characters on offer, there is no single best one, meaning a Tales of Luminaria tier list doesn't really exist. Not this early into the game's release, at least.

Things could change as content is cleared and more battles become available, but right now, any character can get you through the battles ahead. Some may be better suited to it than others, but they all have their strengths and weaknesses. There is no go-to character right now. Just use who you like the most.

When it comes to the question of how to reroll in Tales of Luminaria, few games make it so simple. There's no tutorial and there's a Delete Account button right on the title screen. A Tales of Luminaria reroll can be performed in mere minutes. Just follow the steps above until you're happy with the results.

One way to speed it up is to use multiple devices. Just link the best roll to a Google/Apple account and you should be able to play it on any device.

When Should I Stop Rerolling in Tales of Luminaria?

Because it's so easy to reroll in Tales of Luminaria, there's really no reason to settle for anything but the best pull you can muster—whether that's equipment for your favourite character, those high on the Tales of Luminaria tier list, or just a nice outfit.

Though you could make do with a single five-star drop, most would suggest aiming for more. By rerolling until you get a five-star costume, weapon, and accessory, you stand the best chance of making it through some of the harder co-op missions early on.

It makes sense to aim for equipment characters high on the Tales of Luminaria tier list can put to good use, but this will likely take a considerable amount of time without good luck. There's only a five percent chance you'll roll a five-star item.

What Is Tales of Luminaria?

The Tales of Luminaria mobile game is the latest portable iteration of the long-running JRPG series from Bandai Namco. Announced as part of the first anniversary of Tales of Crestoria, the current main mobile game in the series, this new entry is a fully 3D JRPG title on mobile.

Played in portrait mode, pre-release screenshots show a tall red-haired male swordsman fending off a pack of wolves. In another, two players are seen battling a large chimera-like creature called 'Aglaya' on an elaborate arena in space, highlighting the game's co-op raid battle.

How Can I Play Tales of Luminaria?

You can download and play Tales of Luminaria through your device's app store right now. On Android, you can download it from Google Play or through your APK site of choice. The official Tales of Luminaria website will show you how as well. On Apple's iOS devices, you'll want to get it straight from the App Store.

Can I Play Tales of Luminaria on an Emulator?

Right now, Tales of Luminaria can't be played on an emulator. Any attempt to do so will trigger the game's security measures, locking you out of the game. This could change in the future either through official support or through an emulator workaround.

With the success of recent titles like Tales of Arise, Bandai Namco has accelerated its efforts to have simultaneous worldwide releases of future games in the series. Tales of Luminaria is the latest to enjoy this, and news of that goal means we already know the list of Tales of Luminaria English voice actors.

The above stems from Funimation's announcement of an accompanying anime series, so this list assumes the Tales of Luminaria English voice actors will be performing for both the show and the game.

Who Did the Music for Tales of Luminaria?

Through a bunch of Twitter clips posted over the month of October, we now understand Go Shina to be the main composer for the Tales of Luminaria soundtrack. BGM tracks like Domination Phase I (Empire's Advance) and Domination (Federation's Advance) hammer home the idea that we'll be experiencing the same story from numerous different angles.

The game's main theme, however, is TOMOSHI BEAT by the band "Frederic", which shows up on the HoloLive stream above.

Does Tales of Luminaria Have Dual Audio? - How to Enable JP Voice Acting

Sadly, Siliconera has reported that Tales of Luminaria will not ship with dual audio support. It's the first time a Tales of game on mobile has launched with English voice acting, and that has apparently come at a cost.

The spoken language you'll hear in the game is tied to the version of the game you play. For example: if you're playing the Japanese version, you'll have Japanese voice acting, but if you download the game in Europe, North America or similar locations, your game will be tied to the English voice cast.

Who Designed the Tales of Luminaria Characters?

Shun Saeki is the illustrator credited for the Tales of Luminaria character artwork. Though many fans are saying the art design isn't that of a traditional 'Tales of' game, that isn't to say the person behind the characters is a new face in the industry.

When the game was announced, Bandai Namco said the main artist hadn't worked on the series before - and that's true. Saeki is instead famous for their work on the Food Wars (Shokugeki no Soma) manga.

How Do I Level Up Gear and Characters in Tales of Luminaria?

Tales of Luminaria uses a fairly unique system for character and gear progression. Gear can only be upgraded by pulling duplicates in the gacha or by acquiring them through other means. Future event rewards could be one way. As for characters, these can only be leveled up by playing their specific stories.

Players have figured out that it may be worthwhile running a monster-heavy quest on repeat, quitting just before the quest ends. This allows you to keep most of the experience gained without actually clearing it, allowing for quests with higher EXP payouts to be infinitely repeated.

And that's about everything we know about Tales of Luminaria right now. As this is expected to be a pretty big-budget mobile game from Namco Bandai, we expect it to trump the popularity of the already big Tales of Crestoria release from last year. We'll update this page as we play.
