We finally have an update on Monolith’s Wonder Woman game, but it isn’t good. DC fans were hoping to hear about a potential release date or window for this title, but that won’t happen for a while. This is disappointing news, as the iconic superhero has mostly been relegated to DC and crossover fighting games.
Bloomberg has revealed that Monolith restarted production for the game early last year. For those unaware, that means everything that was planned for the game has been scrapped and they went back to phase one. Some of the previous data and ideas might be kept, but they are starting from scratch.
According to the report, Warner Bros. has reportedly spent $100 million on this Wonder Woman game, so starting over is far from a good sign. At the time, we only knew that this game would use the acclaimed Nemesis system from Shadow of Mordor, but that’s it. Now we don’t know if that feature will be kept for this new version of the DC title.
Unfortunately, this is far from surprising news as Warner Bros. has been a dumpster fire as of late. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League recently stopped support, Mortal Kombat 1 had to cancel additional story DLC, and Multiversus will soon be delisted from online stores. It’s a lot of major setbacks that fans have grown accustomed to, which is a shame.
This report isn’t even sure if the Wonder Woman game will actually come out, which would be the ultimate gut punch. It’s a real shame too, as leaks claimed that Diana was going to fight a familiar villain and maybe even some of her fellow Amazons. Only Warner Bros. knows what’s really going on, but we all know they just failed at making games built for monetization.
Here’s hoping that the Wonder Woman game does come to light. For more positive news, Konami might release a new Castlevania game for modern consoles soon. Meanwhile, Harrison Ford also had nice things to say about Troy Baker’s Indiana Jones performance.
