The most anticipated RPG titles of 2024
#10. Granblue Fantasy: Relink
Platform(s) | Release Date | ESRB Rating |
---|---|---|
PS4, PS5, Steam, Microsoft Windows
| February 1, 2024 | Not yet rated |
Granblue Fantasy: Relink is based on the popular turn-based mobile RPG, Granblue Fantasy, with an exciting touch. Unlike its mobile counterpart, this version by Cygames and Platimumgames takes a dip into the open-world ARPG concept.
Thanks to the 2016 gameplay trailer footage, we know that Granblue Fantasy: Relink has epic AoE-inflicting bosses, breathtaking gameplay footage, fast-paced combat, and multiple playable character choices.
Additionally, this upcoming game's music is composed by Nobuo Uematsu, to bring out the classic Granblue aesthetics. While the game was previously scheduled for a 2022 release, the devs pushed it back for a later launch.
However, the choppy character unlocks, with no direct route, might be a little absurd for the playbase. However, the non-gacha system makes it a refreshing game.
#9. Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

---|---|---|
PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Microsoft Windows | February 13, 2024 | T |
Don't Nod's Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is seemingly a nod to Vampyr from 2018. This is a perfect title for horror fans, as the story starts with two ghost hunters and lovers in 1965 New Eden, who have vowed to protect all mortals from ghostly and supernatural beings.
The story setting in Banishers is powerful, where your choices have major impacts. The game is also lore-heavy, where you play as both lovers who solve supernatural cases, defeat mystically ghastly creatures, and unearth spiritual powers and ancient secrets.
As you play on, you can unlock new powers and weapons to unleash the Banishers' full potential. Remember, the fate of New Eden relies on you.
#8. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

Get ready to immerse yourself in a co-op world teeming with villains. You can say that this game is a sequel of sorts to the Batman: Arkham game series, but what's the catch?
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League by Rocksteady Studios lets you play as DC's most powerful villains of the popular Suicide Squad. As a Squad member, you must catch the mind-controlled Justice League heroes through the open-world Metropolis.
You can play as one of four Squad members in Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, and King Shark. The best part is that this action-packed game is available for single-player and multiplayer options for some goosebumps-inducing adventures. With so much in store, this is one of the more RPG Games for 2024.
#7. Persona 3: Reload
Platform(s) | Release Date | ESRB Rating |
---|---|---|
PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S | February 2, 2024 | M |
While the original Persona 3 is a cult favourite, Persona 3: Reload is the newest hype train from Sega. As a modern-day remake, Persona 3: Reload promises exciting combat mechanics, quality-of-life and graphical improvements.
What makes the game so anticipating is how Persona 4 and Persona players can relish the previous game with a new outlook and expectations. That being said, the modernised Persona 3 remake is carrying a lot on its shoulders in terms of what the franchise fans demand.
And that itself is what makes this thrilling remake an RPG to look forward to.
#6. Rise of the Ronin
Platform(s) | Release Date | ESRB Rating |
---|---|---|
PS5 | March 22, 2024 | M |
If you like history-based ARPGs then the Rise of the Ronin by Team Ninja might be your cup of tea. From exciting boss fights to thrilling combat tactics, this game is quite an adrenaline rush for players.
As the story is set near the historical end of the Edo period (late 1800s) in Japan, the game follows independent faction members who rebel against the Tokugawa Shogunate. All of this takes place in an open-world setting with a perfect backdrop and design to the old Japan.
And while you can enjoy the diverse RPG character customization, the character graphics do seem a bit clunky from the PS5 trailer. However, Rise of the Ronin's gameplay, story, and combat sequence together make it one of the much-awaited RPG Games for 2024.
#5. Black Myth: Wukong
Platform(s) | Release Date | ESRB rating |
---|---|---|
PS5, PC, Xbox Series X/S | August 20, 2024 | Not yet rated |
Black Myth Wukong is a third-person single-player RPG developed with love by Game Science. Based on the classic Journey to the West, this game takes inspiration from Chinese mythology, where you play as the Destined One, Sun Wukong.
Venture into the unknown and discover the cryptic truth of the legends hidden behind unforgettable challenges. After completing his 500 years of penance under the mountains, the Monkey King is finally free but destined for a pilgrimage to India.
This Soulslike lets players use Sun Wukong's famous extendable staff and his transformative skills to take down humongous bosses and dangerous enemy hordes. The gameplay, as seen from the trailer, feels almost cinematic, making Black Myth: Wukong a promising anticipated title.

Set out with an array of weapons like shields, spells, guns, and swords to investigate the deadly rumours and mysteries around you. Obsidian Entertainment has not failed to add challenging enemies to combat before you reach your end goals.
The best part? You can mix and match all sorts of weapons and create your unique builds to bring down the bloodcurdling foes of the Living Lands.
#3. Dragon's Dogma 2
Platform(s) | Release Date | ESRB Rating |
---|---|---|
PS5, Xbox Series X, Microsoft Windows | March 22, 2024 | M |
Dragon's Dogma 2 by Capcom is a much-awaited sequel to its original classic ARPG. It's truly an ambitious project and much-anticipated, especially due to its exciting story and gameplay trailers.
There's no link between the original and this sequel, as Dragon's Dogma 2 takes place in a parallel world with a completely different narrative and new characters. The game is delightfully customizable with a well-curated open-world system for you to discover.
What makes the game even more exciting is its diverse range of classes, subclasses, and even the ability of multiclass with favoured builds. The game also provides a pawn sidekick to all main characters, who are pretty reactive to their surrounding environments and encounters.
Not to forget, the game also has a day/night cycle that affects everything around the players. With beautiful graphics, personalized gameplay, and an exciting class mechanism, Dragon's Dogma 2 has become a much-awaited title on the 2024 RPG line.
#2. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
Platform(s) | Release Date | ESRB Rating |

There's something quite refreshing about Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, especially as an ARPG full of adventures. This game by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is an ambitious project that's full of exciting gameplay surprises.
The story revolves around Ichiban Kasuga, formerly known as the Yakuza, who joins hands with Kiryu Kazuma, the original protagonist of the Yakuza world on an adventure. The game comes with fun side-quests, charming mini-games, and overall highly-immersive gameplay.
What makes Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth a breath of fresh air is the cheerful and bright Hawaiian setting, which is a bit different from the usual Japanese surroundings. Now, this would make you think about how the Yakuza ended up in Hawaii.
#1. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Platform(s) | Release Date | ESRB Rating |
---|---|---|
PS5 | February 29, 2024 | T |
Square Enix's Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is a much-anticipated remake of its classic RPG. This game takes on a new angle and picks up from the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, relating heavily to the second act of the original Final Fantasy story arc.
The expectations are high, especially with Square Enix's unparalleled success with Final Fantasy 16 in 2023 and Dawntrail's 2024 trailer for FFXIV.
FFVII Rebirth is full of exciting adventures as the game's nine playable characters set out to hunt down the ever-feared Godlike Sephiroth and also explore a new world outside of Midgar.
The game is packed to the brim with memorable characters, charming side-quests, sublime combat sequences, mini-games and a fantastic battle system waiting to be discovered. Not to forget, Final Fantasy 7 is bringing back the much-loved Final Fantasy card game.
Immerse yourself in the planetary journey, as you might come face-to-face (yet again) with Sephiroth. All in all, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth might be the most anticipated game out of all the RPG Games for 2024 so far.
