Minecraft Tournament Suffers DDoS Attacks, Disrupting Most of Andorra's Internet

A Minecraft tournament on Twitch has been targeted by DDoS attacks, creating a wider reaction than perhaps intended. With only one internet service provider (ISP) across the tiny European nation, that forced several contenders to unexpectedly drop out.

According to RockPaperShotgun, Andorra Telecom was hit by a series of DDoS attacks during the Twitch SquidCraft Games tournament, taking most of Andorra's internet offline. Notably, this affected AuronPlays, a streamer with 11.4 million followers, alongside Rubius, and TheGrefg.

Andorra Telecom later tweeted that they were already handling the situatioe. As translated by Tech Times, it reads as:

"Please note that the network is currently undergoing a Denial Of Service (DDoS) attack. As a result, some users may find it hard to browse the web. We are handling it."

The SquidCraft Games has been considered one of the most successful Twitch Rivals tournaments to date. This was seen by some as the root cause for why the alleged DDoS attacks occurred, given its $100,000 grand prize at stake. Make sure to follow us for more gaming news and updates as it happens.
