In Unknown 9: Awakening, you can roam around and find different items that offer a glimpse into the secretive workings of the world and their effects on everything around you.
Letters are key collectibles in the game that help you connect the dots. This article will help you find the letters' locations, giving you a clearer picture of the game's narrative.
Where To Find All Letters in Unknown 9: Awakening
These collectibles are hidden in various regions, primarily in three early chapters: Richat Structure, Chamiri, and Quinta Matos.
As you venture through these areas, utilize Haroona’s skills, like the Peek ability and Umbric Resonance enhancement.
This ability allows her to perceive things beyond normal reality, which helps discover letters and other collectibles that would otherwise remain invisible.
Most letters are stamped with a unique red wax seal, which makes them stand out from other documents like memos or dossiers.
Here’s a detailed breakdown of where to discover all 12 letters:
Richat Structure (Letters 1 to 4)
This is one of the first chapters you’ll come across that features four letters.
You'll frequently encounter Scrappers and other enemies as you explore this chapter.
- After taking down two Scrappers, follow the trail to a camping area. The letter is resting on top of some sandbags, surrounded by a tent and several boxes of supplies.
- Once you’ve crawled through the tunnel with Reika, take a right and go towards the ridge with a big tent. Search for the letter on a table beside a lit lamp and some shelves.
- Once the forcefield is disabled, head to the bottom-left corner of the camp. A tarp shelters the area, and you’ll find the letter on a table between a chalkboard and a camera.
- As you near the sandstorm area, leap over a pit and head toward the bridge. After you and Reika reach a ledge covered in tall grass, look for the letter on a table next to an open book.
Chamiri (Letters 5 to 8)
The letters in this chapter are frequently tucked away behind crates or in tricky corners, so you'll need to explore.
- After you unlock the gate and head down the stairs, take a left before you reach the courtyard. Smash the crates as you go, and the letter will be located on a large stone block in the corner.
- Once you handle the Ascendants on the rooftop, jump to the flowering vines. Climb up and then head down the stairs into a room. Find the letter sitting on a chest next to the windows draped in vines.
- Walk across a narrow beam connecting the two buildings, climb up, and smash the crates next to the lattice wall. After crawling through, turn to your right before jumping off the ledge, and you’ll spot the letter on a chest.
- Once you’ve dealt with the Ascendants in the courtyard, head up the stairs to a covered area near the spot where a Gunner was. Break the crates blocking the doorway, and you’ll find the letter on a wooden table inside.
Quinta Matos (Letters 9 to 12)
As you progress, you’ll encounter more forcefields and Ascendant forces guarding key areas.
- Once you’re on the second floor and have turned into the room with the paintings, go through the bathroom to find the bedroom. The letter sits on a desk beside a lit lamp.
- Once you take down the Phantom and open the secret bookshelf, go down the elevator shaft and go to the lab. You can spot the letter on a square table close to a big green fusebox.
- After taking down all the Ascendants in the courtyard, head into the greenhouse with Luther. Climb the left staircase, and you’ll find the letter on a wooden table beside a potted plant.
- In a zone crowded with Ascendants, make your way to the stairs blocked by a forcefield. Before you reach the barrier, look at the nearby table for the letter, which will be lit by a nearby lamp.
While the game is pretty linear, missing letters or other collectibles can be frustrating, as you may not be able to backtrack easily once you've progressed past certain gates or cliffs.
However, replaying levels later is possible, which allows players to hunt for any missed letters or other important items without affecting their main progress.
In addition to the intriguing backstories, collecting all 12 letters in Unknown 9: Awakening helps you complete the Collection Menu.
Doing so unlocks the Master Collector achievement, one of the notable rewards for finding all the collectible items in the game (except for certain types like Extractors).
