PS5 and Xbox Series X/S players rejoice, because Valorant is finally coming to consoles. And the Valorant console release date? Much sooner than you think.
Valorant has been a PC-exclusive game since its launch in 2020, but that hasn't stopped it from becoming one of Riot's most popular IPs and a popular online shooter overall.
Even so, fans have been itching for Valorant to come to console, and while it's taken 4 years, the bright side is that console players will be able to pick up all of the amazing characters involved in the game from the get-go.
As for Valorant fans who were waiting to hear more about the mobile version of the game, which was announced back in 2021, there was, unfortunately, no such news. Maybe next year, mobile fans.
Valorant Console release date
Riot's tactical shooter was revealed to be coming to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles on June 14, 2024. However, there is a catch: it is only a limited beta. This means that it is far from a full launch for Valorant on console platforms.
As revealed at Summer Game Fest 2024, console versions of Valorant will feature "custom-built gameplay" that makes it different from the gameplay you would see on PC. What this means exactly has not been confirmed.
Will Valorant Console have cross-play?
With Valorant finally coming to consoles, eager fans wanting to dive into the game on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S are no doubt curious about whether or not they'll be able to play with their friends on PC. Unfortunately, the answer is a resounding no due to competitive reasons.
As we've stated above, custom-built gameplay for consoles may prove to be an advantage or disadvantage over PC players. If that's the case, it's understandable why Valorant players on console and PC will remain separate.
Will Valorant Console have cross-progression?
While Valorant console will not support cross-play with Valorant on PC, cross-progression is another thing entirely. As confirmed by The Verge, cross-progression will be supported between PC and console. What this means is that, regardless of whether you play and earn skins on PC or console, your progress will cross over alongside you.
That's all we know about the Valorant console release date so far. When we have more news, we'll be sure to update this hub with the information.
