When dropping into Al Mazrah, Warzone 2 players are always on the lookout for ways to gain the upper hand over the opposition. Whether it’s finding a new meta or audio settings that provide crystal-clear footsteps, there are numerous advantages to be had.
With the start of Season Two right around the corner, players loading into Call of Duty’s battle royale are noticing a sudden influx of cheaters ahead of the next seasonal update. Although many are looking forward to the return of the 1v1 gulag, the prospect of encountering a hacker doesn’t sound appealing.
The latest issue to arise involves hackers finding a way to cause the entire lobby to lag, leaving them able to eliminate the opposition with ease.
Warzone 2 lag switching is causing chaos
During a recent broadcast, content creator Smixie was attempting to score a straightforward squad wipe before her game started to experience uncontrollable lag allowing the cheater to revive their teammate and score the kill.
“Lag switch, yay!” exclaims one of Smixie’s squadmates. While spectating the rest of the team, the lag continues to disrupt the match much to the annoyance of the streamer. Judging by the comments, the issue isn’t an isolated incident. “Turns out it’s happening to a lot of people,” reports one fan.
The ability to switch lag on and off isn’t a new concept in the world of multiplayer games. Whether it’s Halo, Call of Duty, or even FIFA, lag switching is hugely frustrating for those looking for a level playing field to showcase their skills.

It’s incredibly tricky for Ricochet anti-cheat to catch any lag-switching culprits but with the team behind the software stating Ricochet continues to adapt to catch hackers, there’s every possibility the issue stops in the not-too-distant future.
