With so many weapons to choose from, ensuring the Warzone 2 weapon arsenal is balanced and contains plenty of variety is no easy task. Throughout the duration of Season One, the Fennec 45 submachine gun (SMG) and the RPK light machine gun (LMG) dominated the meta much to the annoyance of fans.
The Season Two update for Call of Duty’s battle royale saw a wealth of buffs and nerfs attempting to spice up the meta. As players drop into Ashika Island, new guns are starting to appear in loadouts as they look to gain the upper hand over the opposition.
However, a closer look at the statistics of a gun that once dominated the meta reveals that its performance hasn’t been affected.
Has the best Warzone 2 SMG been nerfed?
According to Call of Duty content creator TheXclusiveAce, Infinity Ward’s adjustments to the Fennec aren’t as significant as the patch notes reveal.
Following the most recent seasonal update, the only area that’s taken a hit is headshot damage and although the numbers are less than the stats from Season One, the majority of lower and upper torso damage remains the same. Other players also think that nerfs to the RPK aren’t as significant. “Both ‘nerfs’ were incredibly minimal.”
With the nerf hardly affecting the Fennec’s close-range performance, the SMG continues to dominate the battle royale much to the frustration of fans hoping the recent weapon balancing would’ve bought major changes to the current balance.

Considering the huge popularity of the Fennec and it remaining towards the top of the Warzone 2 meta, there’s every chance further nerfs are on the way. In the meantime, make the most of the Fennec’s excellent firepower!
