Warzone 2 fans have patiently waited for some kind of competitive playlist to arrive in Al Mazrah. The Call of Duty franchise is no stranger to a ranked mode, with Modern Warfare 2 receiving one as part of the Season Two update and now itās the turn of the battle royale.
The Season Three update for Warzone 2 contains a wealth of new content including a brand-new Battle Pass featuring the iconic Intervention sniper rifle and improvements to Ricochet anti-cheat that turn legitimate players invincible.
Arguably the most notable arrival is Warzone 2 ranked play. However, fans will have to wait a little longer as the mode will not launch when the new season begins.
No Warzone 2 ranked when Season 3 starts
According to an April 5 Twitter post from Call of Duty, Warzone 2ās ranked mode wonāt launch alongside the Battle Pass on April 12. Instead, players will need to wait until ālater in the seasonā for their fix of competitive action.
As expected, members of the community are far from impressed with the news. āRanked play later in season?ā questions one disgruntled fan. Despite the slight delay, thereās some logic behind the decision.
Itās far too easy for developers to push out a mode to satisfy demand but if Warzone 2 ranked is riddled with bugs and glitches, the frustrations will continue to arise. Thankfully, some fans are in favour of the delay. āIād rather them iron out issues before launching,ā comments one player.
A ranked playlist for Warzone 2 has the potential to revive the battle royale. It managed to rescue Modern Warfare 2 from an early slump and with players having a chance to battle it out on an all-new ladder determined by skill, thereās something new to play for.
Infinity Ward and Raven Software havenāt unveiled the exact release date for Warzone 2 ranked so thereās always a chance it may arrive as part of the mid-season update in a few weeks.
