Breakdown
- Warzone Mobile has become one of the worst-rated games on the Google Play Store
- After a horrendous launch, Android players are still suffering from countless issues
- The new CoD game runs well on iOS but has countless issues on Android
The recent launch of Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile has been mixed, to say the least. While the iOS port seems stable on iPhone and iPad, the game’s Android version is suffering from countless issues that make the game near-unplayable on the platform.
Days after launch, Call of Duty fans attempting to play the game have become fed up with the mobile title’s issues, leaving thousands of negative reviews on the Google Play Store. At one point, the game held a rating of just 1.8 out of 5 stars on the Android marketplace.
Reviews for the new CoD mobile game are scathing, blasting the free-to-play FPS for its countless issues with server connections, framerate inconsistencies and overall glitches.
“I can't even get into a game because my phone overheats, even on lower settings. The game has crashed multiple times, and it seems as though controllers are not well optimized,” one player said with a 1-star review. “Honestly, it is horrible..... frame rate is bad, lagging everywhere, can even go a sec without freezing or lagging, the phone freezes, and get kicked out or have to restart every time,” said another.
CoD fans who have been waiting years to play Warzone Mobile have expressed a particular disappointment for the mobile conversion.
“The idea of WZ being on mobile devices is great. [I] waited 2 years in pre-registration… I'm disappointed, “ said user Christopher Cline. “The graphics streaming is a major downgrade from just having your typical settings that you can adjust. My device overheats after only loading a match. The visual integrity of the game is horrendous for the near 10GB download required to even play the game, and the framerate fluctuates dramatically on a constant basis. This game feels incomplete and rushed, and it shows.”
However, it looks like the general consensus on the new Call of Duty game is rising. In the United States and the United Kingdom, Warzone Mobile’s Google Play Store score has already increased significantly up to 3.6 out of 5 stars with many becoming quite pleased with the port despite major issues.
On iOS, Warzone Mobile is a completely different story with the game having a rating of 4.4 stars. With better optimisation on the much smaller iOS hardware library, the new free-to-play shooter runs a hell of a lot better, although it does have its fair share of issues. While most players admit the game is rather buggy and has low-quality textures/skins, the majority of players are enjoying the game on iOS.
Warzone Mobile is currently available to download and play for free on iOS and Android. The game has cross-progression with Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone on PC and console.
