Warzone's The Haunting jumpscares are actually frightening players opening supply boxes over the course of a match.
The Haunting update for Warzone is now live and to celebrate the spooky season, Raven Software has applied a wealth of changes to the battle royale in addition to the return of the hugely popular Zombie Royale mode.
One of the main pieces of haunting content is the arrival of jumpscares that appear shortly after interacting with the numerous supply boxes that are scattered across Al Mazrah and Vondel. Although they've appeared in previous eras of the battle royale, they're scaring the daylights out of unsuspecting players.
During a recent match, Reddit user Spicy-Tato1 heads into a quiet area of the map to get their hands on some loot. Shortly after grabbing the items, a terrifying face suddenly appears.
Although there are many who are enjoying the scares, others aren't the biggest fans of screaming ghostly figures suddenly disrupting their gameplay. One player says: "That's the stupidest f**king thing I've ever seen." Another adds: "Hoping they remove this nonsense. Just let me play a chill game."
On the other hand, fans of horror movies are loving the shock value they add. One fan thinks: "As a huge horror movie fan, jump scares are fun. But, they way overdid it in this event."
The main complaint of the Warzone jump scares revolves around their loud volume. User Ok-Candidate-2513 isn't best pleased.
The player says: "Makes it [jump scares] not enjoyable to me. Sucks too because I like the night mode and don't mind jump scares but the volume is just stupid."
The Warzone jump scares are here to stay for the next few weeks and if you're not the biggest fan of the random shocks that appear in Al Mazrah and Vondel, check out our guide on how to turn them off. In the meantime, turn your volume down slightly so the scares don't blow your ear drums into oblivion.
