Best Druid leveling spec for Wrath Classic
First off, we'll talk through the four specs that Druids have available to them. We'll detail the pros and cons of each and give you a recommendation at the end.
Balance
- Pros
- High Utility
- Good Area of Effect damage
- Cons
- Tricky rotation to learn
- Overall DPS is lower than other classes
- Can have mana issues
Feral Bear
- Pros
- High health
- Strong defensive cooldowns
- Good single target damage
- Cons
- Limited Area of Effect
- Not great to level with
Feral Cat
- Pros
- Little to no downtime
- Very high single target DPS
- high mobility
- Can switch to offtank if needed
- Cons
- Bad dungeon levelers
- Little to no AoE damage
Restoration
- Pros
- Great Utility
- Great mobility due to many instant cast spells
- Cons
- Poor solo levelers
- Healing over time can lead to over-healing
- Mana hungry
Based on these, we'd recommend leveling as Feral Cat. The DPS output is great and when you hit level 40, you can have access to both Bear and Cat forms, depending on the content you're doing.
You can also technically level as Balance, as it has good Area of Effect damage. You may run into mana troubles so if you don't mind stopping to drink, then you can definitely roll with this.
WotLK Feral Druid talent tree
Now we're going to look at the talent tree. For levels 1 - 60, you're going to take everything that you see Feral tree except for two levels in Feral Aggression. The majority of the next talents are in the Restoration tree. Here's what you'll take in order from then on.
Level 61 - 80
- Level 61 - 62: Improved Mark of the Wild (both ranks)
- Level 63 - 65: Furor (three ranks)
- Level 66 - 70: Naturalist (all ranks)
- Level 71: Omen of Clarity
- Level 72 - 74: Natural Shapeshifter (all ranks)
- Level 75 - 76: Master Shapeshifter (both ranks)
- Level 77 - 78: Furor (ranks 4 and 5)
- Level 79 - 80: Feral Aggression (ranks 4 and 5)
The talents in the Restoration tree give you benefits when you're shifting into Bear form, as well as gives you some additional healing benefit.
Best Druid leveling professions for WotLK Classic
As for professions, we'd recommend leveling up gathering professions first, and then picking up the crafting professions once you're level 80. We'd recommend Skinning for the Critical Strike buff, as well as Mining for the Stamina buff.
Once you're 80, pick up leatherworking, as well as either Jewelcrafting or Engineering. These are all great choices as you'll be able to utilize what you make, and sell off anything excess for some extra gold.
Best Druid glyphs for WotLK Classic
For our Glyphs, we have three major and three minor glyphs to pick up. Major glyphs will give us bigger benefits, whether it be in damage, or survivability. Minor glyphs provide smaller benefits or quality of life. Here are our recommendations for those.
Majors
- Glyph of Mangle
- Glyph of Berserk
- Glyph of Savage Roar
Minors
- Glyph of the Wild
- Glyph of Thorns
- Glyph of Aquatic Form
As we mentioned earlier, our major glyphs here are all damage boosting glyphs, which make sense for being a dps character. For our minor glyphs, these are providing some nice quality of life benefits in duration extensions and mobility for Glyph of Aquatic Form.
And that's all that we have for you! The Druid is a jack of all trades class. Feral DPS is great overall in the expansion, and you have the ability to fill in any role that you need to with it's variety of specs.
