If you're getting into World of Warcraft's Wrath of the Lich King Classic expansion, then one of the big things that you'll be doing is the many dungeons. There's a good amount of them, each with some special mechanics that need to be handled. As such, our The Nexus dungeon guide will cover everything about the dungeon, especially if you're doing it for the first time.
This dungeon is an early leveling dungeon in the expansion, set in the Borean Tundra. There is another dungeon and raid entrance in the same area, but the entrance to this is at the very bottom of the area.
While you're here, if you're looking to figure out what class and spec you want to play in Wrath Classic, be sure to check out our DPS tier list, Healer tier list, and Tank tier list. Also be sure to check out our speed leveling guide.
The Nexus dungeon guide
Upon entering the dungeon, you'll be met with a split path. You should go left first, and you'll eventually loop back around to the right side of the entrance area for the last boss. When you hit the left side of the diamond, head down the left hallway, you'll be met with a hallway filled with frozen enemies. Take the first few packs out, and you'll reach the first boss, who is also Frozen along the pathway.
Commander Stoutbeard
Commander Stoutbeard is the first "boss" and has four main abilities, none of which are very scary.
- Whirlwind
- Battle Shout
- Charge
- Frightening Shout
The only ability to really worry about here is Frightening Shout, which will fear all players within eight yards. Outside of that just burn the boss down and any remaining adds.
Head up the ramp, and when you get to the top, hang a right to head into the circular room for the next boss after killing the set of mobs in there.
Grand Magus Telestra
Grand Magus Telestra is the next boss and has a few abilities and a 50% phase.
- Fire Bomb
- Ice Nova
- Gravity Well
- Mirror Images
The first phase isn't too terrible to deal with, but when she splits into the three mirror images, that's when things can get a bit hectic. You will have to deal with them all before she will come back together and you can kill her off.
From here, go back out of the arena and head straight down that hallway, hugging the left side. Head up the ramps to the next platform, killing the dragonkin on the first and second platforms. Then, rather than going down the next ramp, walk off the second platform straight ahead and drop down to the ground below. Mop up any adds, then hang a left and head up the ramp to head to the third boss.
Anomalus
Anomalus is the third boss here and he has a main phase and an intermission phase. Here are his abilities.
- Spark
- Arcane Attraction (Heroic)
- Create Rift
- Rift Shield
- Charge Rifts
The main phase involves him creating rifts, which will cause explosions and summon Mana Wraiths. These rifts can be damaged though, so take them out as they pop up if possible.
At 50% health, the boss will become immune and channel energy into any open rifts. This phase will last for about 45 seconds, and this phase is just about dealing with the adds that spawn from the rifts. Afterwards the phase goes back to the main phase and you can just dps the boss down. After this, head back down and drop off the platform straight ahead. Hang a left, and head down the hallway. Head left after getting into the hallway, killing all adds along the way and head up the ramp to the fourth boss.
Ormorok the Tree-Shaper
Ormorok the Tree-Shaper is the next boss in the dungeon. He's a single boss fight with a few abilities with one extra ability on Heroic.
- Spell Reflection
- Trample
- Crystal Spikes
- Summon Crystalline Tangler
- Frenzy
This fight isn't too terrible to deal with. Spell Reflection reflects the next four spells back to the caster, so be aware of that. Dodge the Crystal Spikes that radiate from the ground. The Crystalline Tangler will root players they attack for 2 seconds, so nothing crazy there. Ormorok's Frenzy happens at 30% health, where at that point you want to burn him down as quick as possible.
From here, head right through the hole in the wall, drop down at the end and hang a left and head straight into the middle room. Click the three orbs around the room to release the final boss.
Keristrasza
Keristrasza is the final boss and is a big dragon. Many of the standard dragon strats apply to this fight. Here are her abilities.
- Intense Cold
- Crystalfire Breath
- Tail Sweep
- Crystallize
- Enrage
Intense Cold slows you over time, but is cancelled when you move so be sure to move frequently. Stand at her sides when possible to avoid Crystalfire Breath and Tail Sweep. The Enrage happens at 25%, so that's the time to pop cooldowns and burn her for the win.
And that's the dungeon! This is a longer dungeon, but one that isn't too mechanically demanding. Be sure to stay tuned to our other dungeon guides in Wrath Classic as well.
