WWE 2K24 has understandably removed any mention of Vince McMahon after the former chairman was accused of sex trafficking and sexual assault. This means that the boss won’t be a playable character in the game and his face has awkwardly been censored in video packages.
VGC shared an image where Vince’s face is blurred out next to Charlotte Flair, presumably as part of the build to her WrestleMania 35 match with Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey. Since the allegations against McMahon are fairly serious, choosing not to show his face here is more than understandable.
That being said, McMahon isn’t completely gone from WWE 2K24, as his character model can be seen during the WrestleMania 17 Showcase match. McMahon played a huge part in the actual match’s finish and since the game’s theme is celebrating WrestleMania, there was no proper way to remove him from this. We do respect 2K for not replacing him with a generic character model, but it is still awkward seeing him.
Fans know that Vince McMahon isn’t the only major WWE figure removed from the game, as Brock Lesnar is no longer playable in the final release. However, the game was very late into development when this mandate was made, so they couldn’t completely remove him. Brock might not be playable, but he is still seen in a couple of Showcase matches and the MyRise Career Mode.
WWE 2K24 had planned to include them as playable characters, though the decision to remove them both is understandable. Brock Lesnar was also seemingly mentioned in the lawsuit, as McMahon sent explicit photos of the victim to Lesnar as a way to keep him signed to WWE. Due to his possible complicity, the decision to remove Brock was more than understandable.
