2K Games has revealed its next entry in the long-running WWE 2K series. Revealed in a rather relaxed Twitter post, WWE 2K24 will be yet another arcadey action game of your favourite oily wrestlers.
The tenth entry in the annual sports game, WWE 2K24 will build off the advancements first made in 2K22. With the series skipping 2K21 to improve development, the gaming brand is back to its yearly release cadence.
Revealed on Twitter, WWE 2K24 was announced via a logo reveal, and nothing else. However, the game will have more information in the coming weeks.
“More to come 1.22.24,” the announcement reads.
This means that more details will be revealed on January 22, 2024. Judging from last year’s reveal, we should see an initial gameplay trailer showing new wrestlers, arenas and game modes for players to engage with.
In a follow-up tweet, the return of the series’ beloved Special Referee mode was teased. This mode lets you play as the referee in AI matches, and was sadly absent in the last game.
Outside of this, there’s essentially no other details available for the new wrestling game. While we can assume that it’ll once again be available on all platforms and will see the return of the majority of the WWE 2K23 roster in this new instalment.
Of course, WWE 2K24 will once again allow you to create your own wrestler and fight against your favourite real-life stars. Whether you want to create a realistic wrestling version of yourself or a ridiculous monster, you’ll be able to take your creation into the ring.
Additionally, the ability to download other gamers’ creations will also return. With talented creators making anything from Dr Eggman to Joe Biden, you’ll have countless characters to play as if you so want.
While the official WWE 2K24 release date has yet to be revealed, the game will likely launch sometime in March.
