WWE 2K25 has announced one of its big special edition versions for the pro wrestling simulator, and it’s focused on…The Undertaker.
This announcement has garnered a mixed reception since this WWE legend has already been in the game numerous times with his various personas.
We hope the developers at 2K surprise us because this is an odd announcement.
Fans saw the announcement of 2K25’s “Deadman Edition” on WWE Games’ official X account. Details on this version haven’t been announced, but if previous games are anything to go by, it will come with multiple character models of ‘Taker and his classic rivals. Players can check out the box art below, which does look pretty good.
Because Undertaker was a given in WWE 2K25, fan reception to this Deadman Edition has been mixed. Many players have mentioned that he already received special DLC in WWE 2K22. He also has plenty of playable variations in last year’s 2K24, so adding more isn’t setting the world on fire.
Although this edition is not too exciting, it does seem like 2K is doing more with this year’s game. Previous social media posts have teased the return of older features like intergender matches and chain wrestling. The Showcase Mode has also been teased, with rumors claiming it will be related to WWE’s ongoing Bloodline story.
Unfortunately, this series has a history of recycling wrestling legends and making them paid DLC. Seeing the Undertaker headline another version of WWE 2K25 isn’t surprising, but it is pretty disappointing.
Fans probably would have preferred something focused on CM Punk, The Rock, or even the recently debuted Penta.
No release date for WWE 2K25 has been announced, but expect an announcement soon. For more gaming news, check out how the director of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is slowly accepting mods.
