Want to know everything you can expect from WWE 2K25's brand-new mode The Island? We've got you covered.
After weeks of rumors and leaks, 2K Games finally unveiled what players can expect from the mode, which will work similarly to NBA 2K's The City, just in a more wrestling-themed environment.
There's a lot to dig into, so let's not waste any time.
WWE 2K25 The Island Release Date and Platforms
The Island is a mode within 2K25, so don't worry about it being a separate download or having a different release date. It's coming out on March 14, or you can start playing as soon as March 7 if you purchase The Bloodline or Deadman editions.
One thing to note, The Island will only be available on Xbox Series and PlayStation 5. That means PC and last-gen console users won't get access to the title.
Can You Play The Island Online?
One of the main components of the mode is the ability to play with and against other players.
According to 2K Games, up to 50 players can share the same server and interact with one another. There will be matchmaking integrated which players can access using portals available at different locations. You'll be able to earn XP, currency, and in-game rewards.
And yes, there will be a ranking system, so better get grinding once it drops.
The Island Story and Locations
The Island a semi open-world with tons of quests and objectives to complete. Even if you don't look forward to any online functionalities, The Island will feature a comprehensive story mode.
In total, there will be five chapters worth of content, with multiple WWE Superstars ready to give you quests to complete. The first chapter will be available at launch, with four more coming as free DLC.
As for locations, there will be four major landmarks.
- Hero HQ: Essentially where all the face wrestlers hang out and is the core of The Island. Heels will constantly try to take over it.
- The Arcade of Tomorrow: The techy side of The Island, with bright neon lights illuminating everything in your vicinity if you decide to drop by
- The Temple of the Ancestors: A love-letter to lucha libre. A place where the ancient craft of lucha is revered
- The Deadlands: As the name implies, it's very much an Undertaker inspired zone. Eerie, dimly light, spooky, you get the gist
Is There a Character Creator?
On top of cosmetic customization, you'll be able to craft your favorite style of wrestling, min-maxing the attributes you prefer. You'll have the ability to create up to four characters to experiment even further.
And that's pretty much all you need to know. Remember that The Island is only available for Xbox Series and PS5 users, however, WWE 2K25 will also release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
