The next generation of console gaming is approaching, and while PlayStation 5 news has been few and far between, Microsoft's head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, has released a sizeable blog post detailing the power of the Xbox Series X.

According to Spencer, the console offers twice the graphical power of an Xbox One X and over eight times the power of the original Xbox One console. In computing terms, it delivers 12 teraflops of power – that's impressive, suggesting the Xbox Series X will be able to deal in much more detailed worlds than anything on the market right now.
There's also a four-times jump in processor power, which Spencer says "delivers a true generational leap in processing and graphics power with cutting edge techniques resulting in higher framerates, larger, more sophisticated game worlds, and an immersive experience unlike anything seen in console gaming"
There's support for 120 FPS, SSD storage, and backwards compatibility meaning you can play four generations of Xbox games on one machine.
The console will also allow multi-game instant resume support, meaning you pick up from where you left off on more than just the one game that the Xbox One allows. For digital owners, that's a treat.
Shortly after the post, the Cyberpunk 2077 twitter account tweeted to confirm that the game will not need a second purchase if users buy the Xbox Series X – their existing copy will be upgraded when available on the new system. We're not sure whether this will apply to the PS4 and PS5 versions.
