One of the most underrated aspects of multiplayer shooters is how extensive the settings options are for customizing how your game plays and how effective you can be in fights. That is no different here in XDefiant and Ubisoft has put quite a few settings and options into the game to ensure you can customize your experience to your liking and make the best XDefiant controller settings.

But, if you are new to shooters or just looking to find a solid settings template to give you the edge in matches, then it's more complicated than it might sounds. Luckily, I've done all the hard for you by finding out what the best controller settings for XDefiant are, no matter which of the XDefiant guns you're using.

Best XDefiant Controller Settings

The best controller settings to use in XDefiant are:

  • Button layout: Skill Thumb Brawler
  • Stick layout: Default
  • Aim assist: Standard
  • Aim assist strength adjustment: 0
  • Aim assist follow adjustment: 0
  • Aim response curve type: Reverse S-Curve
  • ADS sensitivity multiplier (Low Zoom): 0.90x
  • ADS sensitivity multiplier (High Zoom): 0.90x
  • Invert horizontal Axis: Personal preference
  • Invert vertical axis: Personal preference
  • Horizontal Sensitivity: 30-40
  • Vertical Sensitivity: 30-40
  • Acceleration Speed Multiplier: 1.00x
  • Dead Zone – Left Stick: Personal preference
  • Dead Zone – Right stick: Personal preference
  • Controller Vibration: Off

Most of the options you will want to leave as the basic default choices. However, one core change you should make is changing the aim response curve type. This option alters how the camera reacts to movements and the sensitivity you get when swiveling the camera/view. The Standard option is fine, and Linear removes any boost or diminishing effect. However, the Reverse S-Curve type is the best choice.

The Reverse S-Curve type provides the strongest accuracy boost - enhancing small and large camera movements while reducing the effect of camera movements between these two extremes. As you will be making small aiming adjustments or large turns while fighting opponents, this option allows you to react quickly if you are surprised or jumped by a random opponent. However, it also allows you to maintain your accuracy at a distance.

The second biggest change on this list that you should make involves the button layout. Switch from the default option to the Skill Thumb Brawler option.

This will put your jump button right next to your aim down sight button, allowing you to transition seamlessly from a jump shot to aiming down sight. In addition, the crouch button is prioritised over your melee attack, allowing you to slide, crouch and get out of danger quickly. Generally, in every shooter, you want to prioritize movement and that is no different in XDefiant - especially given the close-quarters firefights you will find yourself in.

The rest of the options should be left as is or changed to your personal preference, such as whether or not you like controller vibrations or how sensitive you want aiming to be while zoomed in.

With that said though, you will almost certainly want to adjust your stick dead zone. If you've got stick drift, then you will want to increase the dead zone so that less accident movement is picked up by the game.

With these XDefiant controller settings saved, you can then jump into some matches and choose your class from one of the XDefiant Factions. They have their own abilities and gear, which can decimate entire teams or save your own life when in a pinch. Add one of the best XDefiant guns to your loadout and you will have a solid class to run with.
