No multiplayer shooter in 2024 is complete without some roadmap or content plan for the months following its initial launch and XDefiant is no different. Ubisoft’s long-in-development shooter is off to a strong start with its Preseason and Season 1 content. And, to keep you playing at launch, the studio has detailed what you can expect in the coming months with the XDefiant roadmap.
This roadmap doesn’t offer all the details on what you can expect in the game’s first year, but it does give you a good idea of what content to expect and how often. No doubt the best XDefiant guns are going to see some new competition over the following months and years to come as the meta shifts.
XDefiant Roadmap
The XDefiant roadmap for the game’s first year four seasons, each running for three months. Each season will add a new Faction, a new 90-tier battle pass, three new weapons, and three new maps to the game.
Additionally, throughout these seasons, Ubisoft will add new game modes, progression options, and competitive features like Ranked - in addition to fixing any bugs or major issues.
It is expected that this roadmap will continue into XDefiant Year 2 with a similar cadence. That being four seasons, each adding a new Faction, maps, modes, weapons, and more. However, it's possible that this schedule could slow down.
What's clear is that the roadmap is stacked with content, which will make XDefiant feel like a completely different game once the first year of updates is done and dusted.
Season 1
XDefiant Season 1 adds:
- One Faction - GSK
- Three weapons - LVOA-C, L115, Sawed-Off Shotgun
- Three maps - Clubhouse, Daytona, Rockefeller
- Two game modes - Capture the Flag, Ranked
- 90-tier battle pass - Free and paid tiers
- New store cosmetics
Future Content Updates
When it comes to more definitive details on the content more far-flung in the future, Ubisoft is remaining tight-lipped for now, though we do know that each season will add a new Faction, three new maps, new weapons, new mode(s), and a fresh battle pass to grind through.
Some have speculated online about what each of these Factions could be, especially as XDefiant is an amalgamation of all of Ubisoft’s other franchises. The most common predictions are as follows:
- Buzz - Far Cry: New Dawn Highwaymen or Riders Republic-themed faction
- Orchard - Far Cry 5’s Eden’s Gate
- Horde - Rainbow Six or Ghost Recon Wolves
This roadmap is likely to shift and update after the game has launched and Ubisoft finalize and alters its post-launch plan. As with any live service, the plans and roadmaps are always updating and changing so we could see Factions shifted around, or community-requested features added to this roadmap.
If this ends up being the case, we will be sure to update this article with those changes as and when they happen.
