Knowing how to use the fan in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will get you far. Literally. It's one of the more versatile Zonai devices, one of the most power-efficient, and one of the most common of the lot. It's a reliable gizmo you can rely on to thrust you wherever you need to go.
Realising the Zelda fan's potential naturally will depend on your own creativity. It packs enough strength to push heavy carts forward, and can easily push, pull, or lift lighter wood structures. And the more you use, the greater the effect.
How to use the fan in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
Fans are probably one of the simplest devices in this game. To activate a fan in Tears of the Kingodm, just give it a slap with any weapon. If you don't want to risk breaking your favourite armaments, use something like a torch or arrow.
Once it spins up, the fan will blow in a singular direction, pushing an attached object the opposite way.
To turn off this device, then you just need to hit it again. There's a slight cooldown between activations, too, so hitting it multiple times in quick succession by mistake shouldn't be a problem. It will also turn off automatically if your Zonai battery runs dry.
By attaching multiple fans to the same object, you can push it along at higher speeds or push even the heaviest contraptions.
The more perceivable weight of the object a fan is attached to, the more it will struggle to move it, requiring more fans to get the job done. You can even stack fans like coins to achieve the same effect. The wind will blow through each.
When to use fans in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
There are many cool things that you can make with this device. For example, you can use your Ultrahand to Attach fans to various objects. This way you can create boats that can move on their own. This feature is extremely useful when you need to cross a huge body of water.
If you become more proficient with Fans, then you will be able to make even cooler vehicles. Just make these fans blow downwards to create a basic aircraft. You'll need a steering stick to properly control them, but they're not necessary when you simply need to move forward or along a rail.
How to get Zonai fans Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
Zonai Fans can be obtained from special dispensers, found on floating islands, or foraged from areas where they're typically needed.
Device Dispensers are special Zonai Gacha machines that drop random devices, including Zonai Fans. Take a look at your sky map to find gacha machines you've visited to see if they offer fans as part of their stock.
