With the focus slowly turning to the launch of Modern Warfare 2, many players are excited about the shooter franchise making a return to the Steam platform.
As Infinity Ward waits to share more information on the single-player campaign and what multiplayer has to offer, the return to Steam is an exciting prospect for those that love to create custom content.
Although rumours are pointing to Modern Warfare 2 featuring a dedicated map editor, some players believe that they can use the Steam Workshop to create a variety of custom game modes in addition to the likes of Team Deathmatch and Domination.
Will Modern Warfare 2 Use Steam Workshop?
The Steam Workshop often features a wealth of community creations in other titles. Call of Duty rarely contains custom content but with the possibility of no game releasing in 2023, using the platform to extend the Modern Warfare 2 cycle is a smart idea.

The prospect of the game using the Steam Workshop comes after Reddit user 'AnotherGibaway' received a Steam notification reading "Workshop items posted this week."
According to the user, the notification only appears for titles that will receive Workshop support.
Mods often inject a breath of fresh air into a game, giving players a chance to flex their creative muscles. If Modern Warfare 2 does utilise the Steam Workshop, there's a high chance of seeing plenty of unique game modes arriving to multiplayer.
Is there a chance of someone creating Modern Warfare 2 zombies? We will have to wait and see. For now, the Steam Workshop integration with Infinity Ward's latest title is purely speculation for the time being but it could act as another way for players to enjoy the game.
