Season 5 of Modern Warfare and Warzone is in full swing and alongside a wealth of new content expected to arrive, a highly anticipated wave of weapon tuning has been confirmed - including nerfing the GRAU 5.56 assault rifle.
The GRAU has been a hot topic of debate ever since the AR dominated the Warzone metagame thanks to its high damage output at any range, minimal recoil levels and plenty of customisation options.
With the GRAU now out of action, we select five weapons that are perfect replacements.
1) M4A1
In the early days of Warzone, the M4A1 was the weapon of choice before the GRAU was introduced into the game.
Armed with a fast rate of fire, low levels of recoil and the option to add a 60-round magazine, the M4A1 is set to return to the top of the Warzone metagame.
Depending on the style of play that players opt for, the M4A1 can be customised in several ways to suit everyone, ranging from a small, compact iteration perfect for close-quarters action or a version with a thermal optic and a long barrel equipped to deal maximum damage at longer distances.
2) M13
Armed with an extremely fast rate of fire, the M13 could be the ideal replacement for the GRAU once the nerf has come into place.
Equipped with the right attachments, it can be lethal at longer distances as well as put up a fight in close-quarters scenarios.
The M13 is suited to more aggressive players thanks to its fast rate of fire along with its ease of control. Equipping the No Stock attachment and a rear grip to increase the aim down sight speed could make the M13 perfect for fast-paced action.
3) Bruen Mk9
An LMG being as effective as an AR?! Yes! The Bruen Mk9 features a strong rate of fire, is extremely easy to control when laying down sustained fire onto a target all despite its relatively poor levels of mobility.
The issue of mobility can be improved with the right Stock attachment and with the possibility of adding in a huge 200-round magazine for the Bruen, this LMG has all the makings to become an incredibly powerful and versatile weapon in the ever-changing Warzone meta.
4) RAM-7
There is the possibility of the RAM-7 sneaking into the meta as one of the more mobile offerings in the AR category. Contending with the likes of the MP5 in terms of damage output and mobility, the RAM-7 could become the new all-round weapon to use in all kinds of situations around Verdansk.
With several attachment combinations to select, the chance of making the perfect all-around weapon which excels in all environments has never been greater.
The RAM-7 is the ideal foundations to build the next best Warzone weapon.
5) EBR-14
Last and by no means least is the EBR-14 marksman rifle. Although it’s a semi-automatic rifle, the high damage output and capabilities at long range certainly compensate for it. With a fast trigger finger, the EBR can happily shred through armour and take down enemies with ease.
With the Grau likely out of the meta when the weapon tuning comes in, the EBR is certainly an unorthodox replacement but one that could prove to be the right choice for the rest of Season 4 and into Season 5.
