Fans enjoying Call of Duty: Warzone is more than familiar with the fictional location Verdansk. This map has been the home to many a Warzone player for what feels like the longest time, with some fans looking forward to a location change. With Warzone Season 2 launching around the same time as Black Ops Cold War Season 2, it’s only a matter of time before people get what they wish for and start shooting each other in a new area.
Call of Duty: Warzone - Where is Verdansk in Real Life?
Still, while there are definitely players tired of Warzone’s Verdansk map, many of them have wondered if the locale is based on a real-life location. Well, many fans online have found out that a number of the areas are based on various places in Donetsk, a city in the Ukraine.
The Parliament, the bank, the airport and tower, a number of these locations really come from Donetsk. It’s a bit weird that they would base so many of these areas on one particular city from the Ukraine, though we’ll assume that the developers wanted to be culturally sensitive and just make fictional locations. This is fine since other media does this all the time and it will be kind of fun to see these locations in real life once the pandemic is more manageable.
With Warzone Season 2 coming out at around the same time as Black Ops Cold War Season 2, it will be interesting to see what real-life locations become the basis for this new map. If Verdansk was anything to go by, they would probably get multiple places in real-life and come up with some funny names for them too. As long as the map ends up being an engaging place that allows for a lot of strategy and fun moments, fans won’t mind.
Call of Duty: Warzone Season 2 is coming to the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC on February 25, which is also when Black Ops Cold War Season 2 will be released.
