Keanu Reeves is set to star as Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077, and will now feature much more than was originally planned for.
Keanu has a track record of playing characters that are fighting for a just cause, and this is no exception.
Cyberpunk 2077’s Silverhand has a much rougher aesthetic than the Rockerboy we know from the1988 game, but he is still rocking a cybernetic arm in all the trailers we have seen so far.
The dystopian RPG is set to launch in September, so let's find out just how big Keanu's influence will be.

"Thanks to Keanu, Johnny is more relatable and complex than ever"
Johnny Silverhand actually lives as a virtual ghost inside protagonist V's head, but it has been revealed that Reeves has been pushing CD Projekt Red to give him a larger role in the game, having resonated so much with the lore of the franchise.

This news was revealed at the Lucca Comics and Games Festival, where the Cyberpunk's Italian voice actor Luca Ward explained how his recording time had actually been doubled.
This, no doubt, was thanks to the work of the renowned Canadian actor.
While CD Projekt Red was not looking for a well-known celebrity to take over the show, they were happy to appease the actor’s request.
Director's comments
The story director at CD Projekt Red, Marcin Blacha, explained the thought process behind choosing Keanu Reeves to define Johnny’s character in the game:
“A good actor, and Keanu is a great actor, will always infuse their character with a bit of their own special thing”
Keanu Reeves’ connection to the role has made Johnny “more relatable and complex” than ever before, but we have been assured that he has not lost any of his rebelliousness from the 1988 game.
That's all we have for now, but you should check out our pre-order guide if you want to get your hands on the game for it's September launch.
